How to Change a Cabin Air Filter in a 2010 Mazda 3 (Easy Way, No Glove Box Removal)

I saw a youtube video on how to change a cabin air filter on a 2010 mazda 3 where you had to take out the glove box, but there is a much easier way. (Note: A…

You rock! Thanks, changed the cabin filter in less than 5 minutes because
of this video! Gotta love youtube.

Jimmy Nguyen says:

Where is the initial starting position at? I didn’t catch that.

Just changed my cabin air filter on a 2013 Mazda. Overall, it was pretty
painless like they show in the video. My only suggestion would be removing
the glove compartment and the panel underneath it anyway. The glove box is
pretty easy to remove, so it only adds a minute or so to the process, but
it gives you consierably more head room/arm room down there. Thanks for the
video!

Easy as everyone else said! Thanks for the video. Just make sure you guys
have the arrow on the filter pointing towards the back of the car (as
indicated by the instructions) not sure how important this is though..both
sides look the same to me. Curious to know, does anyone know what kind of
sensor is the one that’s outside the cover to the cabin air filters?

You’re a life saver ! Just did my daughters 2011 Mazda 3 in less than 10
min.

Jason Honingford says:

Thanks – a Mazda mechanic was telling me it was difficult to do, but this
looks simple.

David Tenney says:

Thanks for this video! Worked great!

UMepher says:

Thank you! I don’t have an owner’s manual and was wondering how to do this.
If you have any other tips for this car, please share!

joker face 3’s. that was hilarious.

Elaunte Brown says:

Whoaa I was about to say good god with that other guy taking the whole
freaking dash apart thank you for posting this would have been pissed if i
took that whole dash apart

hairysun1 says:

Thanks! This was very helpful!!

vsolution says:

Actually for 2009.. (or maybe older) you don’t have to take the glove box..
but you still have to take out the fuse box.. it’s a bit more complicated
than 2010 and newer 🙂

Adam Sommerton says:

For the non joker face 3’s do you have to take out the wire harness and
all? I have an ’07 Mazda 3 and i need to replace my cabin filter soon

CHICOZTACOS says:

Holy shit. So glad I found this. I just watched the other one and…. Yeah,
this way looks a little easier.

Robert S says:

Nice job on the video. Helped me get the filters in quickly.

crookcirca80 says:

Thanks for the video, couldn’t find anything this good anywhere else online.

saulcamlee says:

Thank you very much man!, I was going to take my car to the dealer to get
this done and they wanted to charge me 110 for parts and labor.

Rich R says:

I replaced mine this morning. It was super easy and super fast. There was a
ton of leaves and debris in mine. Yuck! Thanks for posting! Mazda dealer
wanted alot of $ to do and they said it was a complicated process. It
wasn’t!

foxlake02 says:

It may be useful to point out that the filters go in the compartment
towards the back of the car while installing with the gap on the front
(engine) side. I spent a few minutes trying to get them to stack on the
wrong side of the compartment until I figured it out. Other than that it’s
so simple, even a moderately dexterous cave man can do it.

tiehut says:

should you disconnect the battery first to make sure the airbag does not
fire when you open the interior panels?

CrazySpeed3 says:

Guys before you place the new filter in spry some febreze in there to kill
any bacteria that may be causing bad smell thanks

Evan Monserrate says:

Thanks dude, super helpful!!

nicvette1 says:

Very informative and way easier than the other videos on YouTube. Thanks
for the information.

CHICOZTACOS says:

So it turns out this instructional is only good for the joker face 3s. I
have an ’07 MS3 and learned this the hard way. So… If you have the less
smiley 3, you’ll have to go the other route. Sucks… Really F’n sucks.

Joe Luco says:

Thanks for the video. Just pulled off the job. I had to go back and look at
the video since the angles are pretty close in but then I noticed your
little diagram in the beginning. If i were to suggest anything it would be
to maybe start with a wider shot and come in to the action. Doesn’t change
the fact that your video kicked ass though! Love how you got straight to
the point and were very succinct.

CrazySpeed3 says:

45 min dam I just did mine in a short 5 min thats how simple it is !!!

I drive a 2012 Mazdaspeed 3. Try this video instead for 2010 or newer:

Great help. Thanks. My fan was noisy and Mazda wanted an hour labour just
to troubleshoot. I took out the filters vacuumed out the box and everything
was quiet. Took me 20 minutes.

Dutchman2070 says:

Appreciate your post!! The first time I did it was a real pain.

Dana Markee says:

Agreed on the glovebox thing. No need to pull it. Took my about 45 minutes
and I didn’t even unclip the fuse panel. I just used an extension and
swivel to remove the nuts and drop the bracket with the panel still plugged
in.

cheetos81 says:

Very useful. Thanks for this video!
