In this video I show the replacement of the A-arm bushings in the rear of a Lotus Elise. The stock bushings are replaced with a much higher quality spherical bushing. Note that this procedure will likely require an alignment afterwards. This car is a dedicated race car in SCCA Solo’s Super Street Modified class, and so solid bushings are appropriate. Road going cars may find them to be too harsh, and transmit too much road noise. They do however help keep the suspension located properly, reducing wheel hop and creating a more predictable feel. I also found that my braking improved slightly, probably due again to a consistent toe setting for the rear wheels allowing the ABS to function better.
