Gearbox won’t be the problem, the intermediaries that are problems on the
Evora are going to be interesting to watch though given the Evora high
failure rates for clutch/thrust bearings.
I like the big “SLOW” on the road
Might be over egging it a little – I’ve heard of a couple failures but they
tend to be in a specific batch of cars and I wouldn’t say high rates.
Yeah I assumed most of the shake came from the camera/mount rather than the
ride. The car is firm, but it isn’t a go-kart.But its a great vid either way
Anyone know what gearbox it has now? Is it the MR2 Turbo unit?

Actually I did do some post processing IS, but I opted not to promote this
video so didn’t put too much effort in to it. Most the shake is caused by a
poor choice in mount (3 small suction cups cause shake, one strong one
would be more solid). The car rides well. It didn’t help that I left the ND
filter on after doing some long exposure photos. This meant I had a high
ISO and a slow shutter speed which led to noise and blurring of your normal
tracking points and made post-prod IS unreliable

OMG this thing appears to be very quick! Although I still prefer the old 4
cyl supercharged high revving engine

Was never a massive fan of them myself – would rather have had the
equivalent Elise. The new Exige is massively better and the gearbox can
actually take the power now.
Awesome. There are few better views in motoring than over the hood of a
current Elise/Exige. Nice vid.

Never realised how many “SLOW” signs we have painted on the roads around
here. Tempted to go out and paint a few “FAST” just to compensate.
It’s the same arrangement as pretty much any RHD car I’ve driven.

Its not so much batch but rather design, and use. I know several cars (2010
LE through to 2012 S) that have faced the same issues. The common theme is
all are being used as both daily drivers and track. All are running around
10-15K kms a year also. Rather then a correct sized thrust bearing, Lotus
are using a spacer which appears to be creating the issue. Lotus make great
cars, and never stress to fix stuff, i’m just curious to see how the same
driveline performs when no changes have been made
Only from Lotus dealers as far as I know.
Toyota EA60 gearbox with a custom close-ratio gear set. More information
