BradyAndKianaRS says:

Great Video taught me alot. One Question though, i have a 2005 pontiac
Sunfire and my Metra Wire Harness came with an external RED Ground Wire, Im
so lost on what to do with this.. any advice?

Mando Smith says:

Great video, what is the small harness for on the factory radio? I also
noticed that on the factory harness there are 3 wires in the lower right
side of it and not nothing in the 1858 harness. The colors on them show
that they are for the rear speakers,

Keith Fonville says:

Hello, I think I got it all hooked up right going color to color, I have a
JVC aftermarket Stereo I’m installing in a 08 Pontiac Vibe. I bought the
Metra wiring Harness adapter for General Motors 1998 and up, I have watched
your video 3 times but still not sure about the two orange wires, and the
blue/white. The JVC harness has the orange/white and a blue/white so I
connected them to the orange/white and Blue white on the Metra Harness. Or
on the Blue should I have just not connected them to each other and capped
them off, The solid orange I capped off. And I too like the Crimp Caps
better then solder, Because you have to wrap the joints in Electrical tape
afterwords and this way just looks better. Looking on the JVC Box it shows
the two blues connected to each other so I’m really confused now.

Thomas McClure says:

We hooked up all of the color coded wires up, but we have no sound.

Wojciech Dylag says:

I`m doing this today. Very helpful. Thank you for posting

allan king says:

my 2000 impala does not have a red ignition wire? if there another way to
bypass it.

George Bonev says:

the video is great!
Couple of questions though, on my Nissan Rogue the original wires are all
the same colour so I can’t understand which wire for what is.
And, I decided to check my GPS radio and connected yellow and key+ wires to
+ of battery and black and key- to – of battery but nothing happened.
Should I conclude I have gotten bad unit or I am missing something…

zo phanessN says:

Can u use electric tape to connect the wires

bigjimar77 says:

Chevyfan20179 says:

I just bought a pioneer deh-150mp but it will not turn on and I know I have
all the wires right. The only thing I do not know is if I should ground the
wire to the frame and not just back through the connector

Chevyfan20179 says:

** the only thing I know to do is run the ground back through the connector
and to the frame instead of just the connector

Zac Walsh says:

That’s easy af

Yehuda Avitan says:

So in other words you just match up all of the wires that match in color
and the wires that do not match the color of the radio side harness just do
not connect to anything?

Pedro Lima says:

thanks buddy! good job

Alberto sanchez says:

what do I do with the second small connection on the original stereo?

Mathrock H says:

Great video. Thank you!

Geoffrey Robertson says:

Tips for finding the correct adapter? I have a 1988 F250, and can’t seem to
find any adapter that will fit.

Geoffrey Robertson says:

Neeever mind! I discovered Metra 🙂 Anyhow, this video is extremely
helpful, and soon I’ll be installing a Pioneer DEH-150MP with no stress
thanks to your explaining of everything.

Lessco Electronics says:

the blue white can only control a relay, it is low voltage

Chandler Dobson says:

The “blue-white” wire that runs to the amp kit carries what for a voltage?
can it support an 800w power inverter?

Emmanuel Sandoval says:

I have an o6 ram and i cant find the accessory wire i tried using the
ciggeret lighter wire and it works but it wont save my radio stations

Lessco Electronics says:

I bet its one of your speakers, either having too low of an impedance or a
bad voice coil. disconnect them, and reconnect them 1 by one, youll find
it.

Lessco Electronics says:

16 gauge

solis87 says:

why does my stereo keep shutting off at high volumes, i bought it new and
its doing the same thing as my old one, it only does it at high volume and
i cant seem to figure out the problem. thanks for hearing me out

Lucas Traboscia says:

what gauge are the crimp caps?

GEORGE CASTILLO says:

good video

Lessco Electronics says:

the harness I have here is the 71-1858 by metra

Lessco Electronics says:

always power the blue power antenna wire, some cars that don’t have visible
power antenna’s may also use an active antenna that’s not visible. it can’t
do any damage by connecting it, so do it and don’t worry about it. as for
the brown wire, that will not need connecting at all. that only applies to
adding hands free kits after the fact.

Lessco Electronics says:

crimp caps

Liam Egan says:

Hey Lessco, I own a Nissan Pathfinder 97. I believe i have a power antenna.
(I am not to savvy w/ car electronics). Can you confirm? Should I connect
the blue wire then? The new aftermarket unit installation guide says not to
be used. Also the new aftermarket unit has an additional BROWN “Mute
Control Wire”. Is that wire compatible to my Nissan Pathfinder 97. I will
be using the bluethooth feature on the new unit hands free phone calls as
well as connecting other bluetooth accessories. Thanks!

collin30000 says:

Wait what if I’m color blind, how am I going to set this up?

xfury scibbo says:

iv got a 02 impreza and m antenna doesn’t work

Liam Egan says:

Thank you! The installation took little longer than expected, but for my
first time, it was a success!

Turco949 says:

I especially enjoyed him gripe about potential people posting “you should
do this…you should…” in the comments…lol. It stopped me from smack
talking…..well, almost.

burtonkidd says:

Hey Lessco, I own a 2001 gmc sierra with that radio, the previous owner
tried to hard wire in a pioneer deh 24 and obviously didn’t know what he
was doing, Where can i find that harness you have?

dakotathompson95 says:

Ok I wired all the colors together the first time it worked, disconnected
it to make it fit and connected it back and won’t turn on. Stumped. Need
help

Ryan Hebert says:
