Tim Austin says:

I tried this approach and it worked great! Well worth the time and expense
of the HeaterTreater door.

Thank you very much for posting this, very helpful!

P Dawg says:

This is actually a very good video to help get u through this blend door
procedure. I would make sure to check the motor before I changed the blend
door. I actually took my whole dashboard out and it was kind of a pain in
the butt, then I found this heater treater product which I would of used
for sure.. It is worth every penny. Also if your blend door is broke at the
base where it is attached to the motor it will flop open and shut while
your driving.

Texster Allen says:

You can find the products on our web site, its dot net, not com, and prices
and shipping are listed in the BUY section.

Texster Allen says:

The difference is that the cheap plastic door will break again and it is
more likely once your truck has been identified as being susceptible to
breakage. The installation is also different since you have to remove the
dash to get to the plenum box to install a single piece door. The
HeaterTreater door is metal and constructed in two pieces to make the
installation much easier. If you are going to go to the trouble of removing
the dash, a metal door is a better replacement choice .

finedar says:

This video was a tremendous help. It guided me through the steps to check
the blend door and actuator. Although, neither was my problem for the loss
of heat, after watching, I knew what needed to be done to get to them.
Thanks!

Bobby oldham says:

Just completed my blend door repair on my 97 f150 5.4ltr. The hardest thing
I ran into was like they say in the “video” the screw behind the duct
working for floor vent, it took longer to get it out than it did to do the
entire job. BTW for those who want to know what dremmel bits to use, i used
the (1/8″diam.199 dremmel high speed cutter) by dremmel bought it at home
depot for 8 bucks makes a clean cut lasted the entire job. took the
neighbor longer to cut his yard than it took me to fix door

Brad Allen says:

it’s not overpriced…heatertreater costs $120 and goes through the dash.
OEM plastic door costs less but youll spend 8 hours or 800$ removing the
dash to put it in.

J Hanan says:

Specifically, what was your issue? If you did not use the heater treater
door, what door did you use to replace – OEM, Dorman, other? Did you
replace both the door and the motor?

Robert Thomas says:

(Part 2) So I don’t know if the shop broke it or if it broke because the
truck is over 14 years old. In order not to blame my mechanic for the
problem I searched YouTube and found your video. I went backwards though. I
used a Multi-tool with a 1 inch wood cutting blade to cut out behind the
glove box and plenum to expose the blend door. Sure enough the blend door
is free moving. It moves a little bit, but is over powered by the force of
the air passing by it.

Texster Allen says:

The guy that noted that the fix doesn’t work is wrong. We installed
thousands of these without major issues. Note that you can’t use a plastic
OEM door, you have to have the two piece HeaterTreater door for the
installation with this method. You can get more information on our web
site. It DOES work and you can check the segments on Truck U or Motorhead
garage for additional video clips from the “STARS”…

Willie Boullt says:

This DOES NOT work. I tried it and all that I accomplished is to destroy my
heater box. You will end up with a worse situation than what you started
with. I have taken the whole dash out and it’s impossible to do this fix
because of the way the heater box is designed. You have to lift up the door
to remove it. It is a lot of work but I wish I would have never seen this
video. Now I have to spend more time looking for a heater box for my truck.
DO NOT do this to your vehicle!

Bobby oldham says:

I have no clue on what he is saying myself, it makes no sense. I bet he is
using a dorman 1 piece door
