In this video I disassemble and repair the adjustable pedal system in my 2003 Lincoln Towncar. This system is very similar on many ford vehicles but especially applies to Lincoln Towncar, Mercury Grand Marquis, and Ford Crown Victoria. I hope this video helps you out if you have a similar issue. Thanks for watching! #mobilemechanic #lincoln #towncar #adjustment #gaspedal #brakes #ford #electronics #plastic #gears

Is there anyway to see the position of the pedals without disassembling everything? I saw the side of your brake pedal assembly and how it slides up and down in that elongated oval opening, but wasn't sure if that is visible when everything is back together. My pedals don't move either. I'm very tall and I need them as low as possible, but they feel pretty high up and it's killing me comfort-wise. I probably won't fix it, I just need to get the pedals all the way down somehow or verify they are down. Great video and explanations. I really appreciate your time.
Great video!! Didn't help me with my 2014 ram adjustable pedals not going away. They just came up and topped out. I am 6'4" so this is not good. Thanks for the video tho!!!!
Yours is different than mine on my F150 truck
i bought one of the brass gears from curless auto within the past year. at the time he had one left after i bought one. it wasn't clear if he would make another run of them. he does not appear to be active on the forum anymore, but his shop phone number is out there somewhere. that's how i contacted him. i love having my adjustable pedals. i'm 6'3" and my wife is 5'0" so they are really useful.
Which cable do i disconnect so my adjustable wont work? they move randomly when i recall a memory seating position and its really annoying, i always have them in the furthest back position.
I'm 6 ft four with long legs, the pedal assembly doesn't go down far enough for me, I end up with sore hips and muscles from braking especially, when I press the switch there is very slight travel up or down, I need them to go down as far as possible to accommodate my legs, just remember one of Fords slogans at one time was, Ford has a better idea, I can tell you that this wasn't one of them, I'm a GM guy but love the panther cars.
Try removing the plastic gear by grinding off the end of the shaft then clean it with alcohol, drill 4 small holes, 2 on either side of the crack and insert a small piece of stainless steel wire through the holes and twist it tight to hold the crack together. Then cover the entire crack and holes with baking soda then add (liquid not gel) crazy glue on it. Add two or three coats of each on either side of the gear. This should fix the crack. You can buy a push- on cap nut to go back on the end of the shaft to hold the gear assembly in place. Tip: whenever you adjust the brake pedals, keep your foot OFF the pedal so that no pressure will be put on the gear. We can thank the engineers at Ford Motor Co. for trying to save a few cents on each vehicle by using a plastic gear instead of a brass or aluminum one.
