Do you have to drop the engine out the bottom on a 2012 for fusion 3.5l or can you do it with the engine in place?

@2010bigfathen says:

Isn’t the water pump only mounted inside the timing cover on front wheel drive models?
On rear wheel drive the water pump is still outside as normal?

I traded in my 3.5 Taurus before it went bad I could smell the coolant for about 2 years

@gerardomendoza9688 says:

It's the same POS engine design like the Chrysler 2.7

@timcastilo6962 says:

Besides water pumps those are great engines. One of the best ford has put out

@landonlehman5497 says:

I'm in the middle of that same job right now at work. 2011 ford flex 3.5. Such a dumb design

@monkeymech3078 says:

Do u have to replace the Cam Phaser chains

@andresalderete says:

In this case ford engineers are not dumb. That is a space problem. You cannot have an outside water pump with a transverse engine. Same with rhe dodge durango 4×2. Plus the problem with the water pump is the orange and green coolant. In time it deteriorates the seal. Ford upgraded the coolant to the yellow coolant

@bakerap2211 says:

Every day I pray to the automotive gods that my water pump in my 07 Lincoln mkz doesnt shit the bed.

@michaelwooda9444 says:

You pulled the intake,vc,timing covers ,fenderwell,coolant accessories in one hour? You must turn 780 hours a week.or you should love these.you could do 5 a day easy.
