In Part II of this diagnosis on a 2019 Lincoln Nautilus, we install the parts needed to address the P139A code and low-speed surging issue.
In Part I we diagnosed the vehicle after the customer complained of surging at low speeds and nearly stalling when trying to maintain a steady speed around 20 MPH. The vehicle had a P139A code stored, which indicates a combustion imbalance detected during EGR monitoring.
After reviewing the data and performing our testing, we ordered an EGR valve and a DPFE sensor.
In this video we install the new EGR valve and DPFE sensor, clear the codes, and take the vehicle for a test drive to verify the repair and make sure the surging condition is resolved.
Be sure to watch Part I if you want to see the diagnostic process that led us to this repair.

Quick question if you choose to answer. Get the same issue with the 2019 Nautilus replace the EGR with a Ford part but then the sensor I replaced it with a napper part do you think that's the right choice or should I just go with a dealer part for that sensor. Because I'm still having the issue.
Experience is golden! After 25 years of building your knowledge base….. experience is the use of that knowledge base. Can't fault you for that. That's why you have return customers like this job. They know you are golden!! Job well done and well explained!
Educated guess vs. cost. That Amazon or Ebay parts cannon makes more work for you when they bring it to your shop!
Thank you Sir, for using the international pronunciation 'Al-you-min-ee-um' for the bright soft metal. On this side of the pond, the North American, 'A-loom-in-um; always surprises. I also notice 'fridge' is used more often, in the US now. Years ago it was always refrigerator.
Yes we know if original part from local dealer is cheaper then the time you need to test it, is.
You have to ask your customer are you sure you want me to spend more before.
Then again that's how parts canons are made…
Good job Sir!!!
The last five seconds … I passed a beer through my nose. You owe me a new keyboard Obrochta.
Thank you, again, for an entertaining and informative class.
The 5th Gen Ranger (2019-2024?) with the 2.3 Ecoboost uses the same sensor. We generally just replace them at 30,000 miles. Over time they get contaminated with water and cause all kinds of oddball issues including making the transmission act completely stupid. Standard Motor Products VP41 at RockAuto is usually the Ford part with the writing scrubbed off and is the only 'aftermarket' replacement that can be trusted.
Wouldn't you have confirmed that the problem was only with the EGR if you had left the original DPFE attached?
At least the glovebox isn't as bad as a Tesla to open!
Torque everything to spec. I learned, from Eric O.
Thanks for the great videos, I learn from you.
We apparently have a wired in thing for equating the push of a button to ease of living. Why else would Chrysler have had the push button transmission. Being automatic was not enough of ease. Pushing a button put it into royalty level of living life.
Brake pads made in India, I see toe prints on them.
When your trying to cut corners to save people money, I tell my apprentices, your either a hero or an idiot, you have to weigh info carefully
man the air ratchet. dont hear that noise anymore in most shops
I think your idea of "guessing" differs drastically from that of the classic parts changers out there. Those people really need to stumble across your channel. Not all silver bullets are on the interwebs… some are stored locally on the old main brain upstairs.
