1978 Lincoln Becomes SUPER CHEAP SUMMER CONVERTIBLE!

1978 Lincoln Becomes SUPER CHEAP SUMMER CONVERTIBLE!

So this is a 1978 Lincoln Continental Town Coupe that’s been sitting in the yard ever since I bought it cheap for the 460 big block engine and C6 transmission. We were planning to yank the drivetrain for something else down the road — but now have other plans. We took one look at that big ol’ boat and said, “Let’s cut the damn roof off.” So that’s exactly what we did. Turned it into a redneck summer convertible — cheap, fun, and totally stupid in the best way. That 460 is a beast, and we still want to keep it healthy for a future build, so we were careful-ish. Took a little persuadin’ to get it to light off, but when it finally did, it sounded mean as hell… right after the AC compressor blew apart and just about took my head off. Ain’t gonna lie — thought I was done for a second there. Anyway, come ride along as we give this old Lincoln one more shot at life — topless and rowdy.

You should try painting with one of those electric spray guns as an experiment. Just an idea I’ve been tossing around for my own projects but would like to see a seasoned professionals opinion

Another cool video thanks

@fsfs555 says:

Vinyl tops were one of the worst ideas in automotive history. They put on the worst part of a convertible without making it an actual convertible. Entirely unnecessary. Most cars that had them end up looking like this.

My brother and his friend cut the top off a car, and got pulled over immediately. They drove it straight to the salvage. They are both in the graveyard buried next to each other for different reasons.

@timothystack7373 says:

The burnt up door panel and the smoke in the right front were caused by power seat switches that short out and have sent many a Lincoln of that area to “Fords Theatre”

@308dad8 says:

Wish I could find that kinda cool stuff. I need a barn first and don’t even have a concrete or gravel floor to start with so. Maybe one day I’ll grow up to be as cool as

To be a true Sponsor Magnet JD needs to work on Product display, He should face out that Valvoline jug to show label and a little hand wave ala Dian Parkinson will help Im sure.

@gregjohnson8188 says:

@gregjohnson8188 says:

If you can find a set of C9VE or DOVE heads, might wake the old gal up a tad. 70 and earlier 460's were 365 HP, yours unfortunately only about 205. Just for reference, my 3 cylinder Bronco Sport 1.5 turbo [engine] is rated at 185. I have an off the shelf tune, cat back and CAI, and it put down 199 WHP on the dyno with 93 pump gas

The scrap value of the roof is probably $10 by itself

The rubber bungee for the trunk lid supports are a true sign of class

I have a 1977 Camaro should I build the carbed 5.7 vortec that’s in it or get a 400 ?

@usercid640 says:

It took me 3 days to watch this because you cut the roof off

@jimbo5728 says:

Dalton is on a weekly tetanus booster regimen. Pro tip: there's less glass to clean up from the interior if you swing the sledgehammer from inside the car

@richpetie1875 says:

I love the videos…
I have a question… and probably shouldn’t ask it.. but I’m going to anyway…
Why don’t YouTubers have dealer plates… you buy and sell so many cars wouldn’t that keep the Popo off your ass… how do you not get arrest..??

@jimbo5728 says:

I'm convinced these 70s land yachts ALWAYS start after a long slumber.

@Psyberdream says:

When you backed it out of the garage.. the further away it got.. the better it looked! Shame about that one, though. Those two door continentals you just don't see anymore. Too bad it was so far gone.

@wbarney59 says:

Watch Jamie from dead dodge garage. He's cool too.

@wbarney59 says:

You are wearing a no nonsense know how tee shirt. You're cool in my book brother
