Lexus RX300 Front Brakes Pads Replacement

Lexus RX300 Front Brakes Pads Replacement

Replaced the front brake pads on my RX300 2000 year model. Hope this video help you on your DIY project and save some extra money, the same way it did to me. Maybe later I will replace the rotors but this time I limited the repairs just to the pads. Hope this help!!
Note: I may had not done some extra technical details, cause I am not a professional mechanic just a weekend DIY.

You really shouldn't put new pads on old rotors. It can be done in a pinch but it's bad practice. For the relatively low cost of rotors, they should be replaced with new. That or at least have the old ones machined to a new and smooth surface. Furthermore, you should completely remove the caliper and carrier arm (even if not changing the rotor) so that the metal pad contacts on the carrier arm can be cleaned with a wire brush. You should also do this so that you can grease the contacts to ensure the pad slides in and out freely. That's what that blue grease pack in the box of brake pads is for! If you don't do these last two steps it is a lot more likely you will have a stuck pad and then uneven or very quick pad wear. Moreover, I noticed you removed some of your brake fluid after compressing the piston. This should not be necessary unless you've added extra brake fluid somewhere along the way. You've compressed the piston ALL the way back with your C-Clamp; this is not the position the piston will sit it once you hit the brakes the first time. Once you press the brake pedal the fluid level should drop to within the normal operating range.
