Not because he's being a dummy but because sliding it from up to down will tug on the tint sheet and potentially movie the whole sheet down with it (since the glue hasn't dried) and/or cause air bubbles undoing what he did earlier.

So when I'm out driving I see cars with bubbled up tint all the time. Some are really bad too. Is that because they just didn't use the soap solution?

The hard part isn't getting the things out of the way, it's getting it put back perfectly door panels and their attaching clips are often flimsy.
