How to Replace 2JZ 1JZ Leaking Rear Main Seal | Toyota Lexus Main Oil Seal | IS300 GS300 Supra SC300

WARNING: The NOK BH1650F I received leaked upon start up. Be careful if you get that seal. After review of my photos, the ribs on the inner race are too thin (similar to THO I got as a fake OEM seal). I ordered another OEM NOK BH4519I and have to redo this. If you order online or eBay, make sure to ask seller to verify seal is a BH4519i. Anything else should be returned or not accepted as genuine.

Replacing the 2JZ-GE leaking rear main oil seal with engine in car. This is the same for all 2JZ and 1JZ blocks. I messed up doing the “quick/easy” way and ended up redoing the seal install how the factory service manual recommends by removing the seal retainer and putting FIPG back between retainer/block/oil pan girdle.
Check out my other video on how to drop the transmission.

I was scared of using a drill but I found a straight sharp pick, carefully hammered it in to make my hole and then did the screw trick! Thank you

Great video!
Bro in my GS300 there is a main seal leak can you tell me if this the same seal you showed in this video. By main seal I mean the seal between transmission and engine. Thanks bro I wish I can do this job by myself but It’s difficult for me to work here where I’m living so I just want to understand it so that once the mechanic is doing this job I make sure he does it perfectly and don’t screw up.
Your reply will be highly appreciated.
Many thanks

Tyler Chevez says:

Glad I found this video I’ve got a leak in my 99 gs 300 that I suspect is the rear main seal as well. Thank you!

Rock Stomper says:

Hello… Just curious if your oil girdle ever leaked? I'm just starting my timing belt kit install.

Camren Caldera says:

Thanks for showing the proper way to do it even though it wasn’t intended lol

MR. MAÑ says:

I'm here for the Rear Main Seal replacement, again lol ( great video ) but I noticed that you put gasket sealant on the EM/DP flange which is before another catalytic converter Did that bother the catalytic?

Vilius Ščerbickas says:

please to tell me, I have random missfire in my cilinders, one of my friend said to me, one of reason can be old oil seal. The same thing that you changed in this video.. it's could be?

Im doing my rear main for the second time lol, i out it in flush the first time and it was leaking, so do i push it in as much as it can?

Sirachacha19 says:

Can someone link a new rear main seal below this comment!!!

Jonah Mugen says:

What torque wrench did you use?

Claire Bear says:

I just did a transmission gasket on my GS400 that was a bitch. Need to torque just right. I had a hybrid gasket and Vaseline definitely helps to keep gasket in place while torquing with the torque wrench.

Claire Bear says:

You might have been able to use a soldering iron vs a drill bit.

Louiemark Ambata says:

I appreciate all your videos so much. I bought a gs300 a few months ago and im starting to do all of the maintenance on it and your content is giving me all the confidence and knowledge i need! Thank you!

Milos Vidic says:

Well done!! I heard dealership charges like $1400 for what you just did lol

The hell with ebay… Stop counting pennies, and gambling. Spend the extra, and get the right part first time around. I've bought Toyota/Lexus OEM parts from both for my Supra/GS300, and can say they're legit. You can get OEM parts off ebay, but 9 out of 10 you'll be getting counterfeit parts from China. Ask me how I know… I bought so called Toyota/Lexus OEM seals once from ebay having a feeling the price was to good. Only after I paid for them I realize they were being shipped from China… I knew then I was for sure getting counterfeit parts. When I got them I knew almost right away they seemed off. I compared the the 2 cam seals from ebay with ones from Driftmotion, and verified they were in fact counterfeit. Nothing matched up with them at all. Hell… I don't even think they were for the 2JZ at all in fact. I pretty much tossed them into the trash along with the front main seal, and valve cover seals which came in the bundle for roughly $20. I ordered the next ones from Driftmotion. It's what I get for trying to count pennies, and being cheap. The one, and only time I'll cheap out again. Lesson learned. Last thing… Make sure to install the seals right first time around…
