DIY Lexus self opening boot – strut replacement

DIY Lexus IS350 boot strut replacement.
Purchased a strut for $40NZD from Supercheap Auto.
I recommend using 2 less powerful struts on both sides so that the boot sits flush.
I believe this single strut alone is 450NM. I suggest using 2x 150-200NM instead for both sides if you want it to self open.

BMW 3 series touring struts are same lenght but stronger and work a charm. Works in ISF too.

I first purchased my struts on Amazon and they were too short .I purchased factory struts and they fit perfect also make sure you use something to hold up the trunk lid , when I removed the first strut the trunk lid dropped on my back ouch !!!

Just an update for my 2006 Lexus IS350 struts, I recommend getting both gassed to 250N each with 570mm in length.

You can lift the boot with your pinki finger and it self rises up from around 1/3rd of the way up.

I bought mine from SELECTLOK in Auckland for a bit over $120 for 2. Good price, quality looks decent.
