CRAP!! It’s easier to play Battleship blindfolded… And do you live in
near a bird sanctuary?!

speedkar99 says:

+polibrsjsu The bolt is on the side of the transmission. Follow the wiring
harness around the valve cover to the side and you’ll see it. It’ll prevent
the harness from lifting off the valve cover easily.

If you label your hoses and connectors, it shouldn’t be too hard.

Jacob Tolin says:

can you do mine? I live in Atlanta

Save Par says:

thank you. will try it.

polibrsjsu says:

Talked to a mechanic at a Toyota dealer. He says that they never torque
these valve cover bolts. Says to tighten until it bottoms then turn 1/4
turn. He figured it at about 12 lbs. Any additional posts I’m going to
put on Toyotanation website.

Your video is very helpful. I’ll have this handy when I need to replace my
97 Camry valve cover gasket. Do you have any video regarding diagnosing
and replacing the knock sensors on this 97 Camry? I have a check engine
light and the code is P0325. Thanks.

Steven Nguyen says:

@speedkar99 How long did you freeze the spark plug gaskets?

Stark Boy says:

This is a really great video! Thank you. Is this procedure very similar
to 2000 sienna? I have done the front valve cover 2 years ago, but the
rear valve is starting to leak but it looks like a lot of work. Any
special precaution?
I love the tips you provide for putting the spark plug tubes.
Thanks again.

Mark WOWSERS says:

this is not a DIY job , the front valve cover gasket is though, this is
also why im not a mechanic, to much memory involved

rhpham2 says:

Great vid, helped me tackle the job but it took me 8 hours by myself lol. I
have a 99 avalon with the same engine with 250k. How many miles is on your
solara?

jjlwis says:

Note to self…. DON’T BUY A FRONT WHEEL DRIVE V6 CAR… EVER!

Good job! very through!

John Chambers says:

Great video – would it be possible at all to remove the intake manifold
without disconnecting the throttle, EGR, and everything else on top of it?
Just want to replace my sparks.

ega0117 says:

I’ve already had a mech do that work and it’s still is leaking.

William S says:

I have a 2003 Solara V6. Your engine looks just like mine. Are there any
major differences I need to be aware of when using your VERY helpful
videos?

Andrew Hicks says:

Will this work with a 97 Avalon XLS?

Sean Ashcraft says:

very well documented video

Ababa Baba says:

thanks for the video.
this will help me a lot especially putting them back together.
Very easy to tear them apart, but putting them back together is a
differentstory
i need to replace my highlander’s gaskets too.

PrimitiveStrikeForce says:

How high does your car idle when cold during the winter?

Erik Li says:

Ashley Edling says:

Quick question, what year is this car that you are working on?

rdata34 says:

Really great video, I have the 1997 V6 Camry with with same issue. It
seems quite an effort for a small time DIY guy. Thanks i learnt a lot…

SJ PARKER says:

A big help, thanks.

MrPeee93 says:

This morning I found the problem. When I took off the throttle body I
noticed the position of the gasket on the Plenum intake. I had placed the
gasket on the intake of the plenum instead of lining it up with the holes
on the throttle body itself. . If there is a way to put it on wrong I can
find. But, anyway that was the problem. You have blessed many people and
saved them tons of money with this Video. May the Lord continue to Bless
and prosper you in all your undertakings. And thanks so much.

MrPeee93 says:

Hello Sir, You gave me confidence that I could replace my own Valve cover
gaskets and I did. While I had it apart I changed all 6 spark
plugs.#90919-01194. But, when I put everything back together and cranked it
up, it died. I tried again and it started but had a loping sound. Before I
took it apart it ran perfect except the oil leak that was driving me crazy
(the smell). Now, no oil leak and no idle. Do you have any ideas as to what
it could be. Thank you.

speedkar99 says:

What is a loping sound? If its not starting, it could be a disconnected
ignition coil or component. If it starts but can’t maintain idle, it could
be the idle air control valve or a large vacuum leak. I’d go through the
procedure again and make sure you reconnect every single hose and
electrical connection.

hoarybat61 says:

Phenomenal video sir! I have a leak too and maybe it is the valve cover
gasket too! I have a 1995 camry v6 xle. What year was this one? It looks to
be quite similar to mine. When I changed the plugs 2 of the front 3 plug
cylinders had much oil in them (couldn’t see the rear ones obviously) so it
makes sense that it was those rubber gaskets you froze before putting them
in. Not sure it is worth undertaking for me but after seeing your video
maybe I will keep the car and give it a whirl!
