Best and Worst used Lexus Models to Buy and Lexus Buying Advice

Best and Worst used Lexus Models to Buy and Lexus Buying Advice

A Toyota Master Diagnostic Technician shares the Best and Worst Used Lexus models to buy. Some of the Worst models will be a surprise to some!

In this video we’re continuing on Lexus-thon! at the Car Care Nut channel with the best and worst Lexus models to buy per your request and as promised in the previous video!

We’ll start off with the best middle aged Lexus models to buy. These are models that are out of the factory warranty that I would recommend even without an extended warranty.

Then we’ll move on to the oldies section where these are older models that are still reliable enough to drive a lot more miles.

Then we’ll move into the bad Lexus models. Folks this is the truth from experience. To some it will be hard to hear the car that they own be called bad and if you own of those models and it’s been good I am very happy, glad and wish it continues to be good.

The worse POS Lexus is still light years better than the best GM, Ford, Cadillac, Chevrolet.

What are your thoughts regarding the is300 2001 – 2005?

@rauljimenez1015 says:

2014 IS 250 has had no engine problems or issues. I drive to work 60mile round trip at 85mph. 225k miles. I've been in the automotive business for thirty years. I have owned a 2004 Ford Crown Victoria LX Sport Shifter on the floor and a 2008 Infinity G35 coupe custom exhaust. The Lexus 2014 IS250 is a solid car who's stylish looks interior and exterior wows every one. The best of the last 3 sedans I have owned. I'm currently looking to purchase a new Lexus hybrid sedan due to the age of the car. If you do full synthetic 0w20 oil changes every 5k and only use premium gas plus factory scheduled maintenance this car will last over 300k without engine problems. Most of the time Car Care Nut gets it right, but not in this case.

Great video as always

@Taymoorali1 says:

Wow! For someone who is in the market to get an old ES350, this is the best, most informative video I came across! Thanks alot!

When my son gets my Tacoma later this year, looking at an AWD GS 350 F Sport OR an LS500

@nigel.w says:

Would you buy an LS 430 with 130-140,000 miles as a long term ownership proposition for someone who doesn't do a lot of miles a year? I know these cars should be able to do at least double that with basic maintenance, but normally I tend to search for cars with less than 80,000 miles. Here in the UK, there's half-a-dozen LS 430s currently for sale on AutoTrader. Average mileage is 130-140,000 miles. Lowest mileage is 111; highest is 160. Average price is circa GBP4K/USD5K. Not much difference in price between pre and post facelift. Most look okay in photos, but obviously condition varies somewhat, and the key is to find one without rust that has a good and up-to-date service history. Even if one of those currently for sale checks out, would it be better to wait for a significantly lower mileage car, which would presumably have a significantly higher purchase price? Or would it be better to purchase a 130-140,000 mile example and set aside a few thousand for repairs, like a suspension and brake refresh? I appreciate that I'm over simplifying the decision, but I also appreciate that many failures on old cars are a result of age rather than mileage, and that suspension, brakes, and tyres/tires are the main mileage related expenses. I'd appreciate your thoughts?

@rayhofmeister6693 says:

I made mistake purchasing 2007 ls460 alot problems

@gmuk101 says:

What about ct200h?

@paulamitchell5596 says:

Never seen anything on the used Lexus I bought. It’s a 2013 CT 200 h. It’s small but I’m a smaller person. I love it but what should I be concerned about what should I watch for?

@benji7481 says:

Just maintain your car, check it occasionally all around as if you were buying a used car, that keeps you up in maintenance and fixing things before they lead to worse, my celicas were reliable and my ls460 I know I have to take care of my baby and treat her right, like he said, don’t cheap out on a premium car

@ricodico5110 says:

What about Lexus ct200h ?

@rogerpritchard says:

My father in the UK bought a Lexus IS200 15 years ago. It is still uncanny how reliable it is! Even the exhaust system is original and it's 22 years old with 120,000 miles. Interior still looks new. Bumpers are scuffed but other than that it just goes and goes. Engine is still so smooth.

@jasonbradford5345 says:

I have a question. 2010 IS350, rear wheel drive, 60k miles, no rust. Is this a good car to buy?

@Ookamimoon66 says:

I have a question what model years of IS 250 and 350 specifically have the D4?

@j.t.5826 says:

Looking to buy a Lexus sc430 this Saturday. Wish me luck. Love your channel. I owned 3 lexus now and like them alot.

@roderickjohnson8826 says:

Lexus is very reliable and comfortable, and might I add very nice to look at…

@rxonmymind8362 says:

I believe the 2012 oil hose that goes from the oil pan to the engine needs to be replaced ASAP as the rubber can explode. Buy a metal one.

@keithbird8910 says:

My is200Sport is 23 years old with 170k miles on it. Everything still works, ultra reliable, best car I ever owned.

@ashlielogan says:

I have a 2011 lexus IS250. never any issues. 5 years now

@cottard7698 says:

Nothing about GS430/460? I mean the S190 chassis.

@MarcG7424 says:

Owned a 00 Lexus RX 300 one of the best vehicles I've ever owned my complaint about the 330's they had timing belts as opposed to the 300's and the 350's have timing chains my neighbor has a ES 330 and his timing belt broke he repaired it but it wasn't pretty

@markoliver630 says:

My 2008 GX 470 has 112K miles and runs great ! It does burn some gas but it is worth it !

@lasha4585 says:

Thank you so much, I was seriously considering a used, certified pre-owned LS 460!
