3rd Gen Lexus GS Backup Camera Removal & Install

This video is about how I replaced 2006 Lexus GS300 (OEM) Backup Camera . The OEM part number is “86790-30030”.

My original camera display was gradually getting more fuzzy to a point that it was useless. I tried to find a better resolution aftermarket camera with the same or similar form factor but had no luck.

And I didn’t want to deal with making more holes in the trunk lid and sealing up the original camera slot, so I ended up just buying a used OEM camera from eBay for $36 to keep things simple. Googling shows dealers would charge something like $650 to $700 just for the camera…crazy.

Entire work took about 40 minutes, which included taking bunch of videos.

I have 2010 gs35 my backup camera is intermittent so you think that’s the camera or I will be chasing down a short? It works for awhile and every now and then it doesn’t

There's a video for aftermarket camera(with guideline) listed below. According to the wiring diagram of the connector — Black(CB+) / White(CGND / Red(CV+) / Gray(CV-)(Shielded) , I still don't know the aftermarket camera's video signal wires should go with . In his video , it seems that they are wired with "Red" and "White". Need your comment. Thanks !
