LandRover Freelander 2 LR2 warning lights fixed HDC, stability control, Gearbox fault, Tyre pressure

In this episode, we resolve the wide array of warning messages that have been popping up recently on the Landrover Freelander 2. I also try out a new and much better design of tyre pressure gauge. Here is a link to the one that I purchased from Amazon, for anyone who likes the look of it.

Do the accumulators need changing every 6 years or whatever on these ?

@AndyK.1 says:

You could get Dunlop and jaguar branded tyre gauges like those silver ones back in the day.

Very interesting video, thanks John

Rule 1…read the instructions before use of new tyre pressure tool…

@stun9771 says:

My bet in that case is wheel speed sensors…get them from Lithuania via DHL through the main dealer there…cheap as chips and they will be with you in 3 days…you’ll wait 7 to 10 days for UK parts to arrive if they have them…from somewhere in Europe…!!!

I hate to say it, but that calibration certificate, unless issues by an approved testing centre, is not worth the paper it’s written on… any approved test centre will be registered with the approved standard, and should have the details on their web site or documents… I.e. test centre number and approval registration number etc…if it ain’t, it ain’t…

Go digital…mechanical is so old timer…

I use a similar pressure gauge to you, and never have any problems…my Jeep Cherokee (same as your previous Jeep), can be a bit sensitive about tyre pressures, a warning light come on and the drivers screen shows the pressure drop at as little as 0.5 bar pressure… But I don’t have any problems…good tyres, and when I do top-up inflate my tyres, I set all of them to the same pressure, and whammy…their all good to go… I drive on Yokohama 18” tyres, which have been on the Jeep for best part of three years now, and I have to say shown hardly any signs of wear… I admit I don’t a huge amount of miles, but the Jeep recommended ‘Continental’ tyres that I’ve used in the past, would,have been bald by now on my mileage… Perhaps just topping up your tyres to the same pressure all round will work too…or on second thoughts it’s a land/range thingy rover type, so maybe not… PS, my Jeep was made in Canada, and has an American/Canadian fitted engine, not the Fiat rubbish…thank god…

@stun9771 says:

I bet you never had these problems on your Jeep, eh John…!…lol…

HDC stands for Hill Decent Control, you’ll find when you get the dash warning you won’t be able to engage HDC. I get same intermittent warnings on my little used 2011 FL2 but I’m sure that’s because my drivers door lock actuator is faulty and causing electrical gremlins as it’s happened before.
If I get the HDC/ Terrain Response warnings on start up I just run the engine for a few minutes and then restart and it’s fine.
It’s the 2nd time my drivers lock has needed replacing, just waiting for a warmer day to change it as unfortunately don’t have a garage.

Hi John, thought the Freelander must be going well as not seen it….. as per the tyre pressures, shouldn’t it be slightly higher in winter?

@deanberesford2721 says:

Good evening again John. I had a similar problem with tyre pressure on my MG HS. When I had my Volvo XC 60 which had that clutch set up, I had to fit my space saver spair. That really gave a good light show. I would do have wanted to travel far with all the warning lights. That was all down to odd size soair.

@stagnite2 says:

X150 throws various spurious faults when battery voltage drops. After a run, faults disappear.
Re spring seats, x150 has shaped seats to accommodate coil spring shape to prevent excessive coil end pressure.
I have sent you an email with photo John.
