#Landrover #LandroverDiscovery #LR3

Every Land Rover Discovery 3 TDV6 has a rear high-pressure fuel pump belt. Most dealer repair shops take the body of the frame in order to service the belt. In reality anybody can do it. We show you in this video how much fun this repair can be. Watch it to the end – it get´s funny.
Thanks!
Vera, Christian & Fabian

Excellent job and excellent content

DoneB says:

Use spring type hose clamps for hoses those screw ones are bad news especially on plastic that has large heat expansion, I believe the screw ones are banned in aviation.

Thnx again!

PETER KIRKE says:

WHAT A STUIPED PLACE TO HAVE IT

Martin Hartog says:

Great video as always, thank you! You can save time by not undoing any ECU and TCM connectors. There is enough space when you remove the coolant pipe that runs across the engine, and the bracket that holds the wiring loom at the back of the engine. You can then pull the wiring loom towards you which creates enough space to get the belt cover out and replace the belt. I always insert the new belt tensioner first, easier to locate it correctly in its insert without the extra tension or presence of the belt. The new belt simply will slide over the tensioner when lifting it over the wheel.

Ian says:

German inginuity, engineering know how doing stuff well. What a mixture british design flaws with you sorting it out however i was shocked at the aftermarket bosch belt with tooth issue however for the original belt not breaking in over 180000 kms shows at least land rover got something right. Imagine if they had japanese electrics and lexus quality mechanics. There are some rubbish toyotas and some good suzuki engineering as proven by the use of suzuki engines in experimental aircraft in aeromomentum engines. A very underated company. Their main fault is their finish on parts as they corrode badly but the rest of them is normally really solid. Built to a price so corners are cut but even maruti suzuki vans like their 800cc van are hammered in india but are very reliable and cheap but mechanics earn poor wages so its very cheap to service them compared to europe or usa.

Hugh Janus says:

Well Christian/Vera – I did the job yesterday (under a gloriously sunny warm Corsican sky unlike poor you!) and although my method varied slightly from yours, it was 100% successful, not even a bing or a bing and no spurious messages on startup! My 2 specialists refused (because it's too much trouble no doubt); & the LR stealer in Vannes had asked €2500 (Timing belt at same time with body off).
The only other vid on YT showing the job is terrible and unedited. Your vid gave me a logical progression and saved me from working 'in the dark' which is often a confidence-breaker. Now it's done I'd say it's fiddly but not difficult.
PS The coating on the toothed side of the belt is I believe fibreglass not Teflon. I had the same issue as you (break in the coating, which implies it's 'normal') but my belt is a Dayco (as was the installed belt). NB neither belt had a date or rotation arrow. Keep up the good work, brilliant channel ( the regularity is so important to subscribers as you know) and a major contribution to the Discovery community.

An Other says:

fantastic video how did you manage to fit that belt ,as always I would never buy one of them but great video
do you need to time that belt

dale johnstone says:

That tool is amazing for the heater hose I've got one my self

Johny Hansen says:

I love your video's! They say that Germans don't have a sense of humor… boy were they wrong!
I have a Discovery2 and looking at your video's always inspires me and gives me confidence I can service mine. Thank you so much and keep it up!

Platypus Dreams says:

I wonder how difficult it is to lift the body from the chassis

Dmitriy Matveev says:

4:44 I'm shocked – so far it's most German thing which I saw))

Kristoffer Smith says:

David F. says:

Hi! What a great video, thanks again and again. But One question, though : Have you ever changed the rear crankshaft seal just behind the big fuel pump pulley? I have to do mine as there's a big leak that was a part of the causes that ruined my crankshaft bearings, lacking oil pressure.

Balaz Hidegety says:

British video mode was quite confusing because of tightening the bolts the wrong way. It took me a while to understand why it felt so weird.

Wester Manjengwa says:

Great video guys, i am impressed, i have a question lets say the belt just snapped, do you need to time the fuel pump when replacing that belt or it is not timed, thanx

FoxtrotVictor says:

I was looking for timing belt replacements and I saw a difference in the belts that you can buy on how many dents they have, 82 and 85 for the rear one. There is a difference if you use less dents or it doesn't matter?

Jeffrey Wilkinson says:

At 7.00min, Christian, we now see that you could have become an absolutely, brilliant laparoscopic surgeon. But if you had, we wouldn't have these wonderful videos that you make with your delightful wife Vera. Thank you.
