You need to regularly inspect you vehicle and do the driver under bonnet checks. The condition of the belts will tell you when they need replacing. Look for cracks between the teeth of the belt unless it is sold in that case you will check the overall condition.

Also how ofter would you recommend to change the belts? I’m from the tropics and we only have 2 kinds of weather here, hot & very hot. Also the annual rainstorms / typhoons. I don’t know if that information helps.

Correct me if I am wrong, but is my 300 tdi slightly from a 200tdi? In terms of where the water pump is (upper right in mine and alternator below / beside the pump? Looking into doing this myself.

What a great idea! Googled fitting ancillary belts after mine started squealing and knew I needed to replace them. I actually bought new ones from Paddocks two years ago and never fitted them as the tension thing was beyond me! Will be doing that this weekend! Cheers
