Every k-series engine is tappty on startup after they have done 40k miles or so! nothing to worry about but if it annoys you that much change the hydraulic tappets easy to do and cheap! My k-series still does it for 1st 30 secs and its bein doing it for the last 6 yrs and has now reached 120k miles.

Try wynns hydraulic valve lifter. Add to oil, this helps.

Changing the oil fixed the ticking sound. Though in saying that, that might have been my problem but on another vehicle that could be a number of other causes and not engine oil.

Yes, I mean the noise could be a number of things or causes, but for mine, it was the oil.
