Dana 60 How to Gear And Locker Install. Ultimate Land Rover Discovery Build Episode 12.

Dana 60 How to Gear And Locker Install. Ultimate Land Rover Discovery Build Episode 12.

Complete gear and locker install! Today on Dirt Lifestyle, we will install a 5.38 ring and pinion into my Super Duty Dana 60. There are many ways to do this Job and in this video I will show you how I do it. We will be using a mix of professional grade tools as well as some cheaper alternatives. Installing gears and lockers doesn’t require a college degree but a very clear understanding of the relationships between these parts is crucial. Do your research and compare the pros/cons of hiring a professional vs attempting to do this yourself. I’m not a pro and I wouldn’t perform this install for customers due to the complexity of the job. Look at this video as a good starting point for your education on this subject but don’t look at this as a set by step guide. A complete install guide is not my intention for this video. This video, like all of my videos is info-tainment. Proceed with caution. That said, I really hope you enjoy watching!
Stay creative and build cool stuff!

JEEPIN IT REAL says:

Dumb question, do you know if you can use the JK crush sleeve eliminator on same axle but in a TJ or LJ? since they dont make TJ/LJ eliminators 🙁

Jr Haley says:

Great explanation

The Speed of Darkness says:

What is an average time frame for shop installed gear and lockers? And by time frame I mean, my car has been in shop for almost three weeks and it is still not finished…

Maginus James says:

I'm looking for brand recommendations for gear oil on my new Yukon gears I had put in my axles of my 08 Wrangler. I know it needs to be an 80/90 but what brands do people prefer and what kind of additive should I be using for the lockers? I'm well past my break in period so I need to get the oil changed as soon as I can.

Wayde Jaynes says:

Careful pressing on that bearing race tool! Nothing wrong, but it can shatter and blow your teeth or whatever else out. I use the same bearing puller it's great

peter marciano says:

Perfect work . I was always told " It never pays to be a perfectionist " Glad I never listened to the crowd. Could not be better , thank you

TheMan TheLegend says:

I've been a mechanic for 20 years. Never I have ever done gears. Is it really that hard? I feel as though I can do this but lack the confidence. Would rather buy the tools I don't have and do it myself.

Coming to Full-Age in Christ says:

I actually watched the gear swap on the one ton axle swap a couple of months back.

GReerKid1989 says:

“Backlash in the comments!!!” I’m howling.

Darrell Sharman says:

Awesome video! This is something that I struggle with and need to get my hands on to learn. Thanks for a great video! If your ever wanting to run the trails in the Blackhills let me know! I’ll show you around! And definitely bring your TJ. It definitely can be rough on your body! Happy trails man!

Michael Browning says:

Super helpful

Primal Outdoors - Camping and Overlanding says:

I thought this was a great video, I felt it helped fill in a lot of holes that were left from other videos I have seen. I am putting a locker in my van and I am thinking of trying to install it myself. I am not sure if I am confident enough yet, lol. Maybe we will see.
