HYUNDAI & KIA THEFTS IN 2023 KEEP RISING DESPITE SECURITY FIX: The Homework Guy, Kevin Hunter, Liz

Korean automakers Kia and Hyundai have agreed to an estimated $200 million class action legal settlement over claims that many of the companies’ cars and SUVs are much too easy to steal. The thefts are mostly teens and kids who are stealing the cars.

With Titles like 11 Fake Fees, to Don’t Say I’m Paying Cash at Car dealerships, and Car Shortage Crisis, and Car Dealer Says Bring the Car Back!… The Homework Guy Team publishes videos to help Car Buyers. Then we added Cash Buyer Negotiations, and Held Hostage at a Car Dealership, No Haggle One Price Car Dealerships, How Much do Used Car Dealers Pay for Cars?, and Costco Auto Program. We hit all the topics!

A CAR DEALER WANTS TO:
1. SELL every car for the Highest Possible Price.
2. CONVINCE Car Buyers to use Dealer affiliated Lenders / Banks.
3. LOAD every Car Deal full of Fees and Finance Products.
4. OFFER Lowball numbers on every Trade Vehicle.

THE HOMEWORK GUY TEAM (THG) HELPS CAR BUYERS TO:
1. BUY a Car from Dealers or Private Party Sellers at the Lowest Price.
2. PAY Cash or Finance with their own Bank or Credit Union.
3. DECLINE Dealer Fees and Finance Products.
4. TRADE / SELL their current vehicle for the Best Value.

For more than 40 years, dealerships have EARNED their lowly reputation by being the masters of predatory selling. Dealers stalk victims relentlessly, often ruthlessly treating the most vulnerable car buyers (like seniors, for example) with little or no conscience. Car Dealers and their Finance Officers have no problem creating financial devastation for their customers with over bloated car loans, and quite often do. We point out the traps and the flaws of the process, and help car buyers get through the nonsense without being ripped off. We promote fairness, honesty, and transparency. Join our mission!

The Homework Guy Team provides car buying consumers with information, automotive news and updates, industry outlook, buying and selling advice, and other help to level the tables. The public face of THG is Kevin Hunter and the master negotiator, Amazing Elizabeth. Tons of time and research goes into every show, with several projects always on the table, all with the goal of getting it exactly right. From Automotive News Updates to vehicle shopping advice and assistance, The Homework Guy Team is the best there is.

Does this include 2021 Sonata?

Tomas2 says:

No consequences for car theft. When caught they are released faster than the cops can complete the paperwork. Charges are typically reduced or dropped. Just tried to get a new key fob (key start) for our daughters Kia Soul because it’s coming apart. Every dealer we called said parts are not available with no estimate from Kia when they would be. Looking into aftermarket options now.

Memphis says:

Here in Memphis Tennessee the car theft scene is through the roof. We are at beginning of June with over 7k cars stolen already. They are pretty fast. My buddy had his stolen in about 12 seconds by security footage. They are also stealing the Ram trucks, chargers, challengers, and Chrysler 300 due to a video that has showed them how to put them in neutral and programming key fobs. Tiktok,Facebook,YouTube, and Twitter all should be held responsible for not censoring the videos before allowing them to be posted and on all live streaming should have a delay so they can monitor them as well. It is teenagers doing the crimes but they are also using the stolen cars to rob businesses, ram through gates, run through businesses doors like pawn shops and gun stores here. Memphis thefts have gotten so bad they have had numerous cars stolen from the police impound lots, recently just stolen over 20 vehicles from a auction site over the weekend. The police handed out clubs but you can cut a steering wheel in seconds. People work hard for these over priced vehicles to let’s little punks come and take them. I keep my 9 fully loaded, and wish a MFer would

Dorothy BoVee says:

SAAN27 says:

How about an automatic 6 months in jail if your caught stealing one of these

Joseph Rosa says:

My KIA was actually broken into last Friday. Lol. And they tried to do the same thing.

Commenter says:

Why don't you ban the automaker? That will help consumers.

Carlos Briseno says:

My 2015 kia sorento was stolen last late march from the apartment complex that live in.I had to buy a new car and deal with the sharks all over again.

BrianInOrlando says:

I totally agree they should have listed it as a recall. I happened to follow it on social media. It really isn't much they did just increase the alarm by 30 seconds!!

Mike Zupancic says:

The government is completely worthless. GM trucks should have all been recalled due to brake line failures. The government blamed it on people who didnt wash their cars, despite people getting in crashes and other mfgs, all having coated brake lines.

Kelley ONeal says:

Not buying a Kia or Hyundai. I'm getting a Subaru Impreza.

teutonicc says:

Got a letter saying they would give me a free wheel lock device. Oh boy great fix.

Andy Studer says:

I got the notice from my 2013 Hyundai Elantra limited about a rust prevention thing so when I called the number again to clarify, they added the software update notice last week. my 2021 Kia Sedona LX just got the letter yesterday. We are able to get both vehicles to the dealer in June here.

_ Morningglory says:

The Kia Boys are still going strong in Milwaukee. It’s been years!!!!!

Stock Busters says:

Hyundai and Kia agreed to $200million settlement about the poor design leading to thefts. Do you think you can support a similar settlement for Toyota Prius owners because of the tens of thousands of catalytic converter thefts due to poor design leading to those thefts??

Dennis W says:

I heard this doesn't effect vehicles with a FOB. Only those with a physical key

highrzr says:

Thank you. This is the only place I found out about the campaignfix.
