Hi all, one thing I would say is use the old spring if possible .Also I have to work hard at opening the old fob.I did get it without damaging the board , but it was more luck more than anything.I worked mostly by prying in that open area you show the pliers in ..oh and because of the little slot the board sits in is loose on the new fob I had to put a thick piece of paper on the back of the battery the plus side .works great! Thank You for the video saved my well over $100.

I just replaced the housing on my 2013 Soul. The original key fob appeared to be glued shut. There’s way no screw holding together. I had to use a lot of force with the pliers to spilt it open. After that it was pretty straightforward.

Roger Brigham says:

Very helpful. You may need to use the button from your old remote that releases the key because there are slight variations in the slots.

nathleep says:

Thanks it worked out well for me. The key button is not taking the key in and out anymore but I really don't mind it as long as it saves me $. Thanks again

Doris Edwards says:

Would have liked to have seen him go immediately out to the car and start it.

Kenneth Wheeler says:

WHAT?!?! Why does the Kia Dealership charge me $340.00 for this?!?!?!?!?! I HATE DEALERSHIPS who don't care about their customers.

Daniele Nocentini says:

I have a problem, I have changed the case and the key works, open and clode doors but the engine won't start.

Eli Cortez says:

You saved my ass lots of money and for that I am grateful.

Robert Goldie says:

Thank you. I got mine to work following this video. I have 2 comments. 1. The transponder / chip wasn't glued in on my original key. So I didn't glue it into the new one – this means if I have to get another replacement case I will have no trouble changing it over again. 2. Why was it necessary to go to the bother of changing the key blade. I just took the key blade, hinge and spring from the original fob and used that on the new case. Seemed to work ok!

Tim Unger says:

My Kia fobs were hermetically sealed with superglue from the factory. 5 HOURS!!!! to change my key fob shells. BUT, your video is priceless. Once you get the circuit board out of your old key fob, this operation takes minutes to complete. I had every slot head screwdriver out, 2 pair of pliers, 2 box cutters trying to pry open the old fobs. If you have as much difficulty as I did, just make sure you do not damage the circuit board. Also, your old key (OF COURSE)!, spring and chrome button should be used as long as they are not damaged. The new shells I ordered from Amazon came with springs that are longer than the original and the chrome button is too short to be functional. Thanks for the great video.

This video saved my rear! Huge thanks!

Editorman1 says:

What about the magnetic chip inside, did you transfer it to the new case? Did your key have a chip inside fob?

amkir9703 says:

Can you do for 2004 Chrysler Crossfire

Red says:

Hi, I replaced my old key shell with a new one along with the circuit board and it's not working with my car. the little red light works on it so I know the battery is working well but not sure why it isn't working to lock or unlock my vehicle. I used the old key so that works but that's it. Do I need to do anything else.

kevin santamaria says:

Hi!! I have done it but the light does not turn on, however the key still works. What can I do?

Chris Roberson says:

So helpful! Thank you! Just used this video to help switch out the fob for my Kia Soul. Instructions were perfect.

Grgo Penović says:

I did everything well. The car unlocks and locks without any problems, but it won't start the engine in any way. What to do.

zibbyzubb says:

thank you! Your instructions were perfect and so helpful. I bought a replacement housing from Amazon for about $8. I had some difficulty separating the housing from the old, damaged key, but once I did that, it only took a matter of minutes to reinstall everything in the new one. The key works perfectly. $8 compared to over $100 to get a replacement key from KIA? No contest.

TheDudesMama says:

It really works!!

Ramon Casanova says:

thanks. very useful

airbulb says:

Thanks big help I couldn't figure out how to wind the key blade. One thing to note – my very similar key has a separate small black 3x6mm RFID chip that was under a white retaining piece of plastic. Without that the key fob opens the door and the engine turns over but it wont start.

Eric Vachon says:

Thanks but you should edit the video to talk about the transponder chip. Extremely important. Thanks for the video.
