You used the lower seals for the upper spark plug seals. And the all
manuals do not recommend you use sealant on tjhe seals except when applying
on the valve cover gasket and its only small dots at the corners where the
gasket is curved

Great video! I have to do this to a 1984 Crown Victoria 302. The torque
converter is bad on it meaning I have to pull the engine I guess and then
work on the transmission where it’s at. Any tips? They offered to do the
work off the clock for about $700. I decided to go with this and help him.
I’d do anything to fix my …*piece of shit ford* lolz I love it. Guess if
it costed $7,000 I’d just park it and fix it in 7 years. But I ain’t got
much money. Like I said I’d do anything.

championsparkplug says:

never never never use RTV on molded rubber. Use silicone grease but not RTV.

lol, o ring.

jjenson2006 says:

I wouldn’t put any sealer on the sparkplug hole gaskets because if you have
to remove the valve covers again for any reason, it will never seal again
and you’ll have to replace the gaskets again.

On an Infiniti G20 1996 2.0L and probably the same for many Sentra’s, you
pretty much HAVE to put silicone on those damn spark plug tube seals. I
didn’t the first time on my Grandmother’s car and it had the same problem
of oil leaking into the spark plug area.

Being woman (if I get it done in a garage,)I can just hear the mechanic
telling me the sealant is not neccessary when I tell him what you said,so I
guess I will have to get some sealant & do it myself & then hand it to him.

you are right .

coldfreshwater says:

If there is only a “speck” of oil around my valve cover gasket(it looks
like it was sprayed around the valve cover gasket) in my 93 Topaz then do
you think its likely to get worse to the point that the valve cover gasket
would need to be re-placed,because in my 20 yr old car other parts might
break due to corrosion so I am worried. Also, I already know I should get a
new car so you don”t need to tell me that. This one rides really well.

John27346 says:

My valve cover gasket comes as one moulded piece, i.e the spark plug rings
and outer gasket are connected together. Is it necessary to separate them
before installing? Also, should I coat the outer gasket in the same way as
the S/P rings?

Any advice on how to do this on a 1997 Subaru Legacy wagon?

icedplaya123 says:

All i’m going to say is whoever follows this video is going to end up
having to do the job twice…since “master tech” over here used the lower
tube seals on the valvecover rather than using the correct grommet style
ones… Have fun
