Removing and replacing rusted Cherokee rocker panels. They aren’t that difficult to do, just time consuming. I purchased the new rocker panels from ebay.

excellent video
How did you cut out the rust?
Awesome video, great job on this!! I need to do this on mine this summer as
I have no access to a welding machine. What size rivets did you use, and
were they stainless steel or aluminum? Thanks!
i am going to be doing this soon, as well as my floor pans. did you buy the
rockers or did you bend them yourself?
Great vid! One question…where did you get the rocker replacements?
Turned out really well! I like the Jeep repair/upgrade videos too.
Should have got rid of them did 2×6 steel ones and would have been stronger
and is a rock rail still check out hooligan offroad youtube they do it also
watting for some more vids of you offroading the jeep check out t&t for the
uni body stiffners
I live in the desert – my Jeep is a classic, seeing the damage from up East
no wonder everyone tries to buy it. Thanks for the video, will have the
leave the Jeep in the desert where it belongs or coat the underside.
Nice job, did the same on a 94 Chevy cavialir . I own a GC ZJ also.
Great help! Thanks!
so helpful, thanks !!
I have the same issue with my jeep. I was looking around for rocker panels
on eBay but couldn’t find what I was looking for. Do you recall what
company or user you purchased yours from? P.s.thanks for the video. It
seems really helpful.
thanks for the info! might be doing this myself to my 04 grand Cherokee
soon!
Badass. Just what I needed to get started.
Insightful and helpful,
pop rivets are a jeepers best frend haha
The bottom of my doors right above the rockers is rusting on my jeep.
Really difficult to repair and make it look flush with the rest of the door.
Nice work!
Excellent as always. Have you changed your CPS yet? If not, you will need
to someday and hopefully you will post a vid.
thanks man, for the inner panels, I used 2 long pieces of angle steel in a
bench vise so the jaw surface was about 3′ wide, and I used that as a sheet
metal bender. It worked pretty good. I didn’t really cover that part of the
repair, because at the time I had no idea what I was doin… hahah!
You did a great job with that. Seems to happen to all vehicles here in New
England. The whole frame on my 02 Tacoma was replaced due to rot. So yea
there is no avoiding it.
Thanks for this video. I’m needing to replace both rockers on my wife’s
Liberty and I’m thinking it should be pretty similar. I was only hoping
that I could get an idea of how the rockers were attached at the factory.
I’m imagining a bunch of spot welds that I’ll have to grind through. How
did you remove yours from your Cherokee?
Why didn’t you use some kind if sealant in between the layered panels. Now
water will puddle in there and it will rust away again.
i might do this, but with 3/16″ steel.
Excellent. Just what I needed to figure out my 98 Cherokee. Thank you.
mine is bolted through the rear pillar, and the wire runs around the tail
light and into the truck
I totally agree. I see 2006-07 dodge 1500’s with the rear fender arch
rusted to shit ALREADY! Same with the 2009 chevy truck rear bumpers and
rockers…. it’s unreal
Wheeling it!!!
did you paint the rockers after?
Also that if you didn’t weld it wouldn’t the water and what not get into
that pinch weld and sit up in ther?
You should pull all the rug out. Check my vids and see how much rust was
under the rug and matting.
Good stuff. I have a 97JGC and the outter and inner rocker on the driver
side are completely rotten. So I’m just looking around to see whats
involved. Thanks for the vid.
How did you get the edge of the remaining part of inner panel (pinch seam)
so straight and vertical when you cut the bad part of it out? How did you
get such a clean cut?
u should do an offroad video with this jeep
awesome video. . hope to do this when weather gets warmer… my jeep has
330000KM on it only rocker panel has started to go.
Look up based god on youtube
yeah, but this isn’t a video about painting
I used the extra metal, and bent it up to fit
no problem!
Thanks! BTW Por 15 products are the best to use when repairing rust and
sealing gas tanks. Good choice.
thanks man, I found out later that this isn’t real por15, it’s made by them
as a top coat for the por15… oh well, it’s still holding out the rust!
I would buy a few cans of under coat and spray the whole under frame to
prevent further rust.
i bought the outer rockers, and there was a lot of extra steel on the that
I cut off… I didnt want to replace all the door sill and everything
else… if you look at your rocker panel pics, and look at my panels, you
can see what I cut off.. I just re-used those cut off pieces to fabricate
the inner panels. I used a vise, and 2 long pieces of angle steel to make
the bends. it was quite easy to do. just two, 45 degree bends.
Does ur Jeep Still have the Dana 35s In it??
aren’t you gonna repaint the rocker panels to the same color as the body of
the jeep?
Thanks! thats what I was hoping for!
Make more videos
Why wouldn’t you weld most of it?
Can u do a vid on ur cb
Don’t try doing 3/8 rivets with that gun! I had one and tried a 3/8 rivet
and it snapped the handle right off
