Thanks for this video post of yours, Danny. Nice & simple, explanatory, & no CG. hehe
I’ve got a 95 GC Limited with a slightly slipping parking brake, & I was thinking that the calipers were somehow tightened by the parking brake, & so was surprised to see in your vid that the parking brake is actually just like the old-timey primary drum brakes, only smaller. Nice to see that those are adjustable with the star wheel, which I’m going to try adjusting tomorrow.
Nice end-of-vid credits too, Danny.

Danny, Very informative video. My Parking brakes were not working either and it turns out that the expander was also the culprit, (or whatever its called) it too was frozen. Your video put me in the right direction. Many thanks

adam laporte says:

if your a grand cherokee you got 4 wheel disc brakes so you got calipers and pads on a disc your ebrake has brake shoes which work like drum breaks inside of the disc ” you only need it for a safety ” it isn’t your primary breaking system

Honestly, I am not sure if what froze on my jeep is called an actuator. However it does sound like youre experiencing what happend to my jeep. They just need to be taken apart, wire brushed, or preferably a wire wheel on a bench grinder, and greased with brake grease.
Hope this helps

Thanks for the video. I have a 2003 Jeep Liberty. My E-brakes are frozen and I was told the actuators seized up. Does this make sense because I did not see or hear you mention anything about the actuators. Thanks.

My ebrake was taken off the driver rear. Was making a clicking noise and shop said will be 400 dollars to fix. I said screw it just put it back on will fix later. He said he couldn’t put back on. Is it dangerous to have just one ebrake?

NOS351WCM says:

Yes, you will need to adjust both
