Continuing with the diagnostic process. Jeep is still misfiring despite changing the coil system. Jeep has perfect compression test results, perfect leak down test results. Not sure what to attempt next, but hope you enjoy this HD video showing our diagnostic process as well as a step by step process on changing the jeep wrangler TJ coil pack. With a few tools, anyone can do it. Please let me know in the comments below what I should try next. As always, thank you for watching!
What solved the problem
My 99 is doing same thing but cylinder 4. It's been about a month for me too. Keep throwing parts and money but nothing yet. I hope you have a video of what fixed it. Great videos by the way
Yo, dirty fuel injectors when warm caused a misfire
I found that my Cam position sensor was a little out of sync. I tells the engine if you are firing 1,3,5 or 2,4,6 cylinders if it is off, it does not sync the first of one or the last one of those cylinders. Mine screwed up at higher RPM.
SO if you get 1,5 & or 2,6 misfire, check the CPS!
Music really takes away from all this.
I'm having cylinder 4 misfire. Changed crank and cam sensor. Still the same, any ideas
Did you spray brake cleaner around that cylinder injector or in the area to see if you’re idle gets better? Only do when it’s cold
Need more information on the plastic thing you said you bought off Amazon. You talked about it for a couple of seconds and nothing more…….
were you getting any codes? was misfire on same cylinder?
The iridium plugs did the trick, Jeep runs much better – thanks for the vid
How many miles did the jeep have on it when you bought it?
How did you get this clip off???
Great vid ! Thanks !! PS: 1 min in, nitrile gloves look spectacular. 15 min in, gloves gnawed by Grizzly. I have same issue. Lol
My 98 has a different style coil pack. What year is yours?
My problems were, idling low, shaking, and loss of power. Butttt The ignition coil and spark plugs fixed my problems…Finally!!! I tried to replace distributer cap, and the idle air control valve, and even the carburetor cause it was spitting out black liquid from the exhaust, which I later found out that it was called misfiring..but never the less. This fixed my issues. And yes you are correct that plug at the end of the ignition coil is a huge pain!
On my 97 tj 2.5l I had a similar issue, it ended up being my distributor pickup coil
I'm having the same problem….
I have a 97 tj…. a couple of months ago it started misfiring on #3 so I changed the wires and plugs… i did not change the distributor cap…. she continued to misfire… took it to the mechanic… they found nothing wrong with it…. moved some parts around and sent her home… she ran fine for a while and is misfiring again…
