Nice video, funny too:) I have 2 questions for you though…

1. Once you drain all the tranny fluid out of a 2004/3.7 Liberty, how do u
know how much fluid to put back in?
2. I went to AutoZone and the dude told me I should use Lucas transmission
fluid (one that stops leaks), is this gonna be bad for the Jeep??
Thanks!!

George Mount says:

The 2007 jeep liberty I bought has no transmission dipstick instead it has
a plug that says for dealer use only WTF!

Lazar Ristic says:

Is this procedure same on 2.5 CRD manual transmission?

elena noda says:

very helpful….

satchelmcqueenvideo says:

@latinsmooth3050 i had to put in 8 new quarts, after i let it drain over
night.

Laura Villarreal says:

Thanks this helped a lot

satchelmcqueenvideo says:

@jeepkj06 atf+4 is full synthetic. glad it helped.

jeepkj06 says:

I used the ATF-4 from Wal-Mart. I will go to full synthetic when I hit
100,000 miles at the end of this year. Thank you for the video. This saved
me $70 from taking it to the dealership.

satchelmcqueenvideo says:

@swampshine for the 2002 and some 2003 models, there are 2 filters. for mid
2003-2007…no, just this 1 filter.

Bigg Wizz says:

I’ve watched your video on changing transmission fluid & filter. (THANKS)
My question is I’m swapping out the tranny & I’m aware that they are 2
versions of that transmission for my vehicle. Can I use either one? I see
that they look the same but the transmission pans are the only difference.
Appreciate your input!

jayandshaz1181 says:

true i have one of these cars in my fleet with a sealed for life box which
is a pain in the ass so we modded it with a drain plug but now i am
thinking maybe your right so its a new filter every 30000 mile from now on
🙂

latinsmooth3050 says:

how many quarts of fluid are you supposed to put in once you have drained
the fluid?

evil hero says:

Thanks for the vid.

chvydrptop says:

Thanks for posting this video buddy! Makes this a little less foreign to us
first timers!! 🙂

ChrisPerkinsFamily says:

Hey, thanks for taking the time to help other Liberty owners out. I really
appreciate you help (2x now). If you ever get the chance, you should make
video on how to replace the radiator, they all fail eventually because of
those crappy plastic tanks (I’m sure you already know about that). I just
replaced my daughters yesterday, not a fun job…

satchelmcqueenvideo says:

in the video description i changed my mind and instead decided to use just
gasket sealer only. its much easier and seals with no problem using a 1/4
bead all around the pan. ill re edit this soon to correspond with that
change.

Norbert Cyran says:

Man you good thanks for the Video nice Job

El Tigre Ortiz says:

You are the perfect instructor ill pay you to change my transmittin fluid

Adam Alsnayyan says:

HAHAHAhaha. I love that “NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM” sound.

OnAir21 says:

Thanks for putting up this video. It’s going to be very helpful for me next
week when I do mine. What’s the shopping list of things I would need?
Obviously 8 qts of ATF+4 & a transmission fluid filter. Is there anything
else I should have?

Dillon Blue says:

what kind of filter did you buy?

Survivor Men says:

how many TRANSMISSION oil ? 5? change TRANSMISSION FLUID/FILTER 2002 Jeep
Liberty no move~!@ problem.. my car

satchelmcqueenvideo says:

i would guess it is or else they wouldnt be allowed to put that on the
label. i would stay with name brands myself just in case. maybe someone
else has an idea.

Kimberly Hager says:

Did I just see your daughters Power Puff Girls blanket under you ? LOL bet
she wasn’t happy … Thanks for the video

TheLastLancer says:

Thank you very much for this! You’d think Chrysler would have installed a
drain plug to make it cleaner and easier – for service mechanics, let alone
for do-it-yourselfers! I can’t think it would cost THAT much! There is a
drain plug “kit” available through Amazon – hollow bolt secured on the
inside with a nut, drain bolt inside that – poor description but the pics
are on Amazon. You don’t get all of the fluid out through the drain, but
you do get most which cuts down on the mess.

satchelmcqueenvideo says:

no i did not. it would be good if you did though. i just tighten them until
i feel the pan conntact with the housing and then i stop. if you use enough
gasket maker, itll squeeze it just perfect. i use just a 3/8 inch bead.

sports987654321 says:

RVT? 🙂 awesome video though for those who have never done that

satchelmcqueenvideo says:

5 says me! @*

Rodras el Astur says:

I could see there are two cats at every side of the Transmission pan (in my
Lib those are smaller and closer to the engine.) Is that change working in
your Lib? (I have been thinking to do something similar to that but my
trusted technician keep telling me it won’t work because of the lower cat
temp in that position, so the oxygen sensors won’t work at all.) Thanks and
nice instructional video dude!

satchelmcqueenvideo says:

if that doesnt work id just let the jeep dealership pull the pan for you
and watch them do it. next time youll for sure be able to do this yourself.
keep me posted, im curious.

Ahmad Zhafri Ahmad Zahir says:

wondering if there isnt any drain plug of the ATF ??

ronlongie says:

Great video. It gives a guy a good point to start. Dealers want so much
money for this, it is robbery I think.

dr4g1116 says:

The cats on an 02-03 Liberty are in a different position. I think it’s
because it’s got the 45RFE instead of the 42RLE.

satchelmcqueenvideo says:

thanks man! im planning on axl fluid change vids in a few weeks. thanks for
the good comment.

bennettbennettsb says:

I don’t have a dipstick on my transmission fluid how do I check to see if
it’s low

satchelmcqueenvideo says:

near the battery there is a box with a lot of wiring harnesses going to it.
this is the ECU. that controls the transmission and other things as well.
this is the “brain” of the liberty.
