Crazy. All you need is 4 transducers fixed to the wheel rims, but without dismantling anything. The accuracy of the twine system is insignificant.
That wasn't the brake rotor you took off, That was the brake caliper. Rotor means round.

As long as that channel you have is actually flat that would work
Cut a couple notches in that c-channel so those tape measures can sit right inside there and they won't have to hang down like that.
You might have done this but usually the vehicle is started and the steering wheel is centered. Vehicles with power steering then shut off and the steering locked.
I think you got a little confused, you took the caliper off, not the router
