lucky my community college autoshop allows me to go in and do my own work
whenever we come to an agree on the time. So hopefully this weekend i will
change u joints and hopefully that will solve that metal clunking sound
from the tranny tunnel
my car makes a sound that sounds like something is smacking the
transmission tunnel, like metal on metal, and i know its not the tranny cus
it works just fine and it seems to happen mostly when i hit bumps in the
road. Im thinking its the old u-joints? it doesnt sound like grinding it
sounds like i had a metal fan smacking against the tranny tunnel for a few
seconds and it will go away immediately and like i said it only happends
whenever i hit bumps in the road? im going to replace ujoints anyways so
hopefully that is the issue
That is the smallest drive shaft I’ve ever seen.
Anyone who has a problem with the language and go somewhere else U joints
suck I broke my press when I was doing them. Ended up grinding the caps off
then just ripping them out
I didn’t say you didn’t know what you were doing, but when a person can’t
describe his thoughts without using foul language, it shows how
unprofessional you really are. I mean really? Can you even construct a
proper sentence with the use of foul language?
Ooops I left out fuckin’…. Love your fuckin’ vid man!!
I loved this fucking video! Anybody who has worked on a vehicle knows how
he is feeling and can totally relate to the frustration.
nice video!!!! fuck all the bad comments there jackasses
i haven’t done the fronts yet as i’m doing those once i start rebuilding
the axles. otherwise you got the process right the only difference is there
is like 2 ujoints at the transfer case. it has a special name i just can’t
think of it now
Of course they sucked to get out…they were fucked up in the first place!
fuck off
best diy vid ever!! keep up the fucking funny work
hahaha right on, is there a way you can adjust the steering box ?? i
haven’t looked much into that but it might be worth checking into
We’ve all had awful jobs like that mate. Some of the simplest can be the
worst for no good reason. Keep on keepin on.
fer frig sakes those u joints were dickered! lol sweet vid man beers up!
that’s right a couple cold beers will cure pretty much anything
love your videos Jerry we all have had a project go south a time or too I
know I have. Keep up the good work. And yes sir beers up!!
Ya the axle. Not the front drive shaft. Sorry for the confusion. The front
drive shaft shouldn’t be hard to do. I’ve only ever done it on an XJ so it
may be more complicated on other models. It was pretty much the same
process as what you did for the rear.
the front u-joints are you talking about the ones in the axle as i can see
those vibrating while turning with the tug tug. i’ve been thinking of doing
the front drive shaft but have been putting it off for the time being.
thanks i try to keep it as realistic as i can and show where i had troubles
and if i fucked up, what i did wrong and all that. most people make
misleading videos that make you think that everything is going to go smooth
when most times that never happens.
Nice Video Nothing A Few Beers won’t cure
why is that driveshaft so goddamn rusted? the truck looks fairly new
(2000’s)
You the man!! I changed those a while ago when I told you I did entire
makeover. Very cheap and makes a huge change.
thanks glad i could help
I own a 2002 TJ and when the jeep is parked, the rear driveshaft does not
wiggle or have any play at all when I go to wiggle it by hand. But when I
go to wiggle the front one, it will move slightly back and forth. When in
4wd it makes absolutely no noise. Is the front shaft supposed to move
slightly since it is not a fwd vehicle? I looked at a buddys XJ and his
front moved slightly as well. Thank you and great videos btw
Found the ujoint video… for the fronts, what all else is involved? I know
the skidplate has to come off and to support the transfer/tranny, but it’s
basically all the same right?
too many F boms
in Canada we have a harsh winter in which we use lots of salt on the roads
which makes everything rust faster
I’m fucking stoked on this video. Finally, someone that knows what the fuck
they’re doing and fucking explains it right.
It’s good that you have a press. I’ve had to put them in a vice, put an
impact socket over the cups, and pound them out with a heavy hammer. They
can definitely be a pain ass sometimes.
Great videos brother! Thanks and keep em coming! Learning a lot! Cheers
BTW the loose steering column was from the steering box like you suggested.
I’m not changing it. Its not worth it. Fuck it, its a jeep not a race car,
I take my time going places and enjoy the ride. The only downfall is that
the wheel isn’t that accurate, there’s a “null zone” . But with 275 tires,
and rock stiff suspension. It isnt a problem. Good for me, no one in my
house like driving my jeep.
the most realistic repair vid on you tube. shit happens when you work on
your car and it the simplest shit never goes as planned.Ultimately, you
complete the job and celebrate with some cold beers. keep wrenching brother!
You never showed how you got the shaft out of the transfer case! You always
cut right before you do what we are watching for!
well hopefully the video helped, after this video i actually went out and
purchased a U-joint press which will make things way easier in the future
hopefully
ive always did them the same way you just mention but these ones were like
there seized. the ends of the caps shattered in the press while getting
them out. since this video i’ve purchased a balljoint/ujoint kit for future
use that i’ve recently used on the BMW to change out the rear bushings
is that a harbor freight hydraulic press?
