I have a 2012 Wrangler. The factory boasts 280 hp stock. I was considering
just putting the cold air intake system on it to get a little better air
flow. Would this be beneficial?
@w8tlftr4u – Adding the exhaust will definately help broaden your torque
curve out and give you some additional horsepower. Usually the the 3 most
important upgrades on a late model vehicle are intake, exhaust and
tuner/programmer. You are bringing in more air with the intake, you really
need to get it removed so an exhaust system is really important.
I just ordered the AFE cold air intake for my 1997 Wrangler 4.0 sahara. I
have a 1 inch powerade throttle body spacer. Will it bolt up, I forgot to
mention it when I ordered it. Thanks!
@w8tlftr4u – Awesome. Good luck with your project and please feel free to
let me know if you need anything further from aFe…Jason
i am getting an afe cold air intake and an afe silver bullet throttle body
installed on my 2013 jeep as we type!.. would i require an ecu tune???
please help. cheers
Yes we do. We make intakes, air filters, throttle body spacers, etc. for
that model.
If you’re looking for additional horsepower and torque. I would recommend
adding an aFe cold air intake. if you visit our website at afepower .com
you will be able to find the application your looking for.
how in the world did it only put out 133 horsepower the 4.0 straight 6 puts
out 190 hp stock and something in the rage of 230-35 for the torque. My xj
right now is putting out about 220 with my upgrades.
with the serrated/helix design the hole is the same size but the serrations
and helix interrupt the air stream to make the air intake charge more
turbulent so that it breaks up the fuel for a more complete burn. It does
not hurt the air flow. Let me know if you need any further
information…Thanks, Jason
No drilling required.
No it does not.
could i get one for my 2.5L
Question , I have a 97 wrangler sport 4.0, I just finished installing a
cold air intake plus a power aid throttle body spacer, she’s running better
and I like it, but tell me adding an exhaust would that make a big
difference ? Should I go ahead and add the exhaust as well? Anyway thanks
so much for any imput .
@lwszabo1 – It should work as our intake works with the aFe spacer which
should have a similar height. You should be good. Thanks for your support.
Usually that is a difference in settings. We us a Mustang chassis dyno that
puts a load on the test which usually puts down a conservative number. If
you had yours done with a dynojet or other brand of dyno, you could end up
with different data.
you didn’t have to drill any holes or anything on the intake?
do the aFe CAI on a 2010 Jeep SRT8 requires a tune?
Is it me or does the throttle body spacer hole seem kinda small compared to
the actual throttle body? I can’t see that being a good thing for the
intake (performance wise) seeing as you gain power when you bore the stock
throttle body out (under the butterfly).
No it does not.
im about to put one on my jeep. cant wait!!!!!
hey i have 2002 jeep grand cherokee 4.0l 6cyl do yall sell a cold intake
kit for it???
We do not make an intake for the 2010 SRT8.
Thanks so much for the, imput , I went out yesterday and got a price on
getting something comparable to this exhaust , the mechanic said a flow
master 44-or 40 series with a 2 and 1/2 inch pipe should work well
installed around 200-225 being im on a slight budget,(after buying custom
rims and tires) lol. But thanks again for your imput , will get it done
asap. Currently having the rear differential pinion seal replaced not sure
why that’s leaking,I just did the rear seal myself.
