If that's your wife's car you deserve some good loving plate of food you like and a new tool from your favorite brand..lol
Cool video. Praying this isn't whats going on right now with my 05 GC. Running tests tomorrow… it already needs a starter flex plate replacement (definitely not happening!), drive shaft replacement, ABS sensor replacement, MAF sensor, bad circuit in mirror, etc. I'm gonna take a leaf out of your book, laugh, and just get at it.
Gotta go in from the fender well. Makes it 100 times easier
After you get the tire off all you really need is a 13, 10 and 16 millimeter some extensions and a universal and it pops out through the wheel well. I did it in my driveway it takes a couple hours.
I like to do work on my cars myself. But there's some jobs like this I'll just pay someone for. It's such a pain to do this type of stuff sometimes
Unfortunately, this is no help as there is no inner wheel well opening nor any way to remove aside from removing the entire welded exhaust system as one piece.
Why do I think you would be a fun guy to drink with.
My Question is how did u get the starter Out? My mechanic has all the screws out it’s loose but won’t come right out
It’s not bad I did mine last weekend it’s an hour job and that includes me driving all the way to town and getting the new starter
i judge a man by how many 5 gallon buckets he owns…
You're the man… just got it done last night. Was able to get the starter swapped out pretty easy through the wheel well. Thanks a bunch I never would have thought of that.
If something will happen with starter on th road you are in deep…
I just did a starter replacement on a 2017 Grand Cherokee, 3.6 liter 4×4. Brilliant engineering to say the least. The entire front differential needs to be removed, as well as the left side engine mount bracket. The AC compressor needs to unbolted and moved aside to gain access to the top engine bracket bolts as well. I'd love to have a few words with the engineer who put that nightmare together. Definitely not the job for a novice mechanic, and something you certainly wouldn't want to do in your driveway as the engine has to be raised quite a bit to remove the front differential. Just an absolutely horrific design.
Had starter issues with my 2005 hemi Jeep Grand Cherokee
Would go to start and no crank only a click, and the dash was giving me different dash messages like “seatbelt fastened” and other weird stuff, was not the relay and was not the solenoid on the starter, my issue was oxidation of the wire end on the wiring connection to the solenoid of the starter, like when a copper penny turns greenish in color, i took a 2ft piece of brake line and taped a steel wire brush to the end and sprayed connection cleaner on the connection and scrubbed it with my wire brush until clean, haven’t had any issues yet! And even better I didn’t have to struggle with removing the starter and only cost me $5 and a half hour in the driveway
All you need to do is remove the tire from driver side work smart not hard
I commend you sir, my 08 grand cherokee starter went last night. To the mechanic with it. Please do a rebuild your starter video.
I had to replace the starter on my 4.7 and I will tell you right now the 3.7 5.7 and and hopefully you will get rid of those Vehicles before you have to get into the cam and lifters and if you want any more information I would be happy to answer them at my email maxxdistad666@gmail.com
You can also hit both ends of the startet to get a spark and start it "manually" you need someone else to hold the key on ignition. Great video over all. This process sucks.
U are a cool guy
U have awesome advice thanks
