Jaguar already have an SUV… it’s called Range Rover :/

NiekoNezinau says:

F type is one of the best looking cars ever, but when you put them next to
each other I am not sure… XK might be better looking.. hmm. Anyway,
amazing looking cars.

TurboDifferent says:

I think the XK looks better than the f type, and it’s still a fresh looking
thing compared to the bmw 6 series and mercedes SL.

Would love to own one of these things

67ES335 says:

As a previous XKRS owner and a current R Coupe owner I agree with
everything he said. The interesting thing is the R Coupe doesn’t feel as
fast in a straight line. That is because the suspension is better and it is
much more rigid. The feeling of speed in many cars is the body twisting and
the suspension struggling to handle the torque. The F Type is a much better
car than the XKRS. It is so much more enjoyable to be in the R Coupe. I
think the XKRS in black or dark gray looks better than the R Coupe. It
looks more special and more menacing. That and the extra storage is what I
miss about the XKRS.

Tomasz Grzyb says:

0:14 mistake

Kaipeternicolas says:

F-Type doesn’t have an semi-automatic. It’s a full on 8-speed auto by ZF.

Lewis72 says:

Some of the ‘facts’ in this article are wrong.

The XK has no chassis link back to the XJS. Furthermore, the F-Type IS a
shortened XK platform. i.e. the front & rear are common to both vehicles,
so to state that one has commonality with the XJS whilst the other is much
more modern is wrong.

This is common knowledge, so I’m amazed he stated it !

Henry Perez says:

A good friend of mine has owned both the XKR (Past car) and the F-type
convertible V6S (current) and I must say, as much as I LOVE the F-type’s
styling but more than anything the SOUND it produces, I still prefer the
beautiful curves of the XK…

I don’t know, it’s just the XK to me is so much classier…perhaps it’s the
fact that I’m getting old and thus like the “classier” model.

Edgars Kronbergs says:

The Jaguar XK, though I’ve never driven it yet, it has changed my life.
Back in 1998, when I was 6, I played my first ever computer game – Need For
Speed III: Hot Pursuit. And it featured a Jaguar XK8. Though all other cars
were faster, more exotic, it’s the XK8 that got my attention. It was the
first car I ever looked into (books and journals then, obviously),
therefore, Jaguar XK helped me to become a petrolhead. I will be ever so
grateful to it even though its production has ceased. Thank you, XK, for
changing the course of my life. :)

Connor M. says:

As much as the XK has become essentially irrelevant, to a more or less
extend because of the F-Type, I can’t help but say I’m going to miss it.
The XK along with the XF really marked a new beginning for Jag not so long
ago & look where they’ve ended up. It’s great to see Jag back to their full
potential making some of the most desirable cars in the world. I also think
the XF might actually be prettier in red than the F-Type at least in the
spec they both came in seen here…

Ethan Tremblay says:

I like the bordeaux colored one

Leo Nidas says:

Jaguar has one big problem: Porsche!

mieguistumas says:

Again – SUV… I just can’t understand, why does it have to be this way?
Are SUVs better than saloons and coupes? No. Are they better looking – no.
People with money and with no interest in driving are ruining car culture.

BestCanKeanRob2 says:

F type,I`d buy one, have to sell my house first.

John Ye says:

I want to know how much it costs to produce such a video. Just having a
good informative test driver driving these cars on a b-road is seriously
good enough to me. And judging by myself i dont think this kinda video will
cost awful alot dough regardless autocar is a mag. So yeah, think about
this DRIVE+.

David Percival says:

Where is this road?

frimer says:

Fuck /Drive+ !

derbigpr500 says:

Hmmmmm which to pick if I had the cash for either of
these….hmmm…choices. Probably the 911 lol.

Bug Video View says:

F type replaces the XK – surely?

Andylev100 says:

I felt compelled to add my comments to this video, Firstly let me state
that the XK is a 2+2 ie 4 seats…. whereas the F type is a two seater,
therefore its like comparing apples to pears for a start. Secondary I
have just taken delivery of a brand new XK Signature Convertible that only
has 385 BHP…… gosh how do I cope I mean getting to 60mph in 5.3 seconds
I mean its just not good enough let alone the 0-100 times of 10.2
seconds…….

Let me just dispel any myths about this car – I have owned and driven many
of fast cars, twin turbo V6 etc and all I can say is this “old” XK is
simply just awesome and even sounds amazing, so if theres anyone thinking
of a XK – go ahead and buy one because you wont regret it they are amazing,
and in many ways IMO they are the F types more distinguished older
brother…
I feel I can say this on confidence as I driven both car myself – the XK
don’t forget is marketed as a GT car…….

Rant over…….These guys just bug me when they bang on about not being
fast enough and steering not responsive enough….all I say is fkin
BullSh!t. These cars are superb and still turn heads, go ahead buy one
you wont regret it!!!

Austin Roberts says:

For the love of christ Jaguar better not make an SUV. Leave that to Land
Rover…which is all the Jaguar would end up being anyway!!!

meady200 says:

Do we really have to resort to calling a coupe a ‘coup’? It’s both
ridiculous and slightly depressing.

Jonny S says:

Woah woah woah, “You can trace the XK’s chassis back to the XJS”? Steve,
totally wrong. The 2nd gen XK has/had an aluminium monocoque, in fact the
F-Type uses a heavily modified & cut down version of it (hence the F’s
slight weight problem).

fundiver198 says:

So no more XK then? While sad I think its kind of understadible, because
while car enthusiasts like us might lust after such classic 2+2 grand
tourers, the harsh reality is, not very many people actually buy them. And
although the F-type is a stricht 2 seater, the XK and F-type would still
take sales away from each other to at least some extend. So two different
lines of coupes in Jaguars lineup is probably just one to many.

From a financial point of view, it makes all the sence in the world for
Jaguar to develope a premium SUV instead for the american and asian
markets. Just look how much the Cayenne has boosted Porsches sales, and if
Porsche can make an SUV without diluting its brand values, obviously so can
Jaguar. After all Jaguar has already since long had station wagons and
diesels in their lineup, so an SUV makes perfect sence.

john marsh says:

I prefer the XK to the f-type from the front angle. There’s a black XKR
near to me that I always walk past and it just looks stunning even if the
car is a bit dated now internally. I’d prefer the F-type if it had the
headlights from the XK.

round51 says:

I wish all of you car blogs would get a clue and realize that people are
more interested in looking at the car than the presenter.

ruskeee says:

They need to bring a manual option to the F-Type. The car is clearly about
the driving experience, not ultimate precision (unlike the 911) so it makes
no sense that the 911 has one and the F-Type doesn’t.

Leonaristo says:

Does anyone know the location this video was shot? Seems a nice place to
drive around.

Ruozhuo Li says:

Jaguar needs makeover desperately. It was one of the most elegant brand in
the game but now it is just vulgar. It has become a English muscle car
rather than a gentlemen’s sports car. Horsepowers, torques seem to be the
only things matter now.

Tim Jones says:

Chassis related to a XJS? Piss off. I can tell you are a talker, not very
clever. If your going to talk facts, do your homework.

venom5809 says:

I prefer the XK, think it looks better and I like a 2+2 over a 2 seater
with no backseat.

Francisco Rabaça says:

F type coupe and 458 italia are on my opinion the two best performance cars
on sale at the moment.

1xr says:

Does anyone know what the music is that starts after the intro at around
0:05?

Martin Allen says:

Exhalation mid sentence…makes me turn over to EVO mid review.

David Moyle says:

I can’t understand the fellow who is giving this test. 🙁
I was about to buy an XK when I heard about the new F-Type. I bought it,
trading in a 2011 XJ which was the love of my life but I was thrilled with
the power on that 550 HP. After two months, I am missing the comfort that I
had. This car is SO much fun but it is beating the heck out of my old body
(67) and I am wondering if I can take much more. I now know that I can
never redo 16. Ah, The good old days!

disgraceland uk says:

No more XK? Sad face. Really lovely cars.

tomas jonas says:

i dont see any point of making these two models, now and in the future

Mitchell Steindler says:

Why would they make a new XK?

Capt Nemo says:

The face of this XK R Dynamic (the XK’s regular face) looks so much sweeter
than the aggressively, grimacing ‘try hard’ look of the XKR-S. The original
XK8 in 1996 looked a bit awkward from its debut imo, but has since grown
into a really nice looking car. I hope the replacement will be just as
good, and then some.

Richard Harrold says:

Disappointed by this – so many fundamental errors (e.g. the current XK was
all-new in 2007 and bears no relationship whatever to the previous XK nor
to the XJS) and the descriptions of the two cars’ behaviour and how he’d
like the next XK to shape up are very vague and uninformative.

MeesterDash says:

I am a Jag Master Tech of 19 years. I drive them and work on them everyday
and would take an XKR over Ftype all day long. The XKR is a real quality,
well made and designed car. The Ftype is just a cheap trash toy in
comparison and is annoying EVERY time you start it and the engine `flares`
making you look like like a massive dickhead, especially when you are
trying to just start it quietly at 1am. The XKR does it all, with more
quality.

Ferrari Scuderia says:

I don’t get the hype about the F type. Its rather ordinary looking and I
hardly ever, if ever, see one on the road. Jag XK is the real deal and if
Jag focuses on building some fuck ugly SUV then Jag has truly lost its
spirit.

Sigurd Hegland says:

There’s nothing I’d rather have than an XK. Simply my favorite car. The
F-Type is amazing, but there’s something special about the XK.

amorphia 3 says:

if u want to visit ur mechanical engineer for service every month, buy a
jaguar

hibritto says:

good try convincing indians..LOL jaguar’ll become the next SAAB in the
hyper car industry.

Michael McDonald says:

I understand Jag’s decision to not make a new XK. They’re gonna make an XJ
Coupe, so I don’t see how they could make room between that and the F-Type
for a new XK.
