Jaguar forums made me think this job was harder than an engine swap.

Further clarification: With the 3 pinch pins that hold the upper carpet in place….pinch the outer tabs of the pins and pull down on the carpet. The pins come out easily…no need to rip them out. Simple pliers for pinching the pins is just fine. In addition to the debris that came out with the filter, clean out the inlet air box by hand/vacuum as best you can. The filter folds are to be in vertical position. Very important, the filter needs to be latched onto the outboard tabs on the inside of the filter door. If the filter is installed incorrectly in the reverse direction of flow the tabs will probably not nest properly in the filter folds…not in between them as is the case when the filter is in the correct orientation. I found it easier to get the new filter halfway inserted before attaching the filter to the door.and then attaching the door to the filter. Again, make sure the tabs on the filter door latch onto the filter. Lastly, timing for doing this is not critical….do it when the ambient temp is comfortable.
