Inspection Time for our V12 Jag! – 1989 Jaguar XJS Convertible

Today we get the Jag up on the lift, and bring you along for a deeper dive mechanical inspection. Note that we’ve already spent time under the bonnet in prior videos, so today is all about going underneath the car.

Also, I cut out a fair bit of parts and next steps chat – because we’ve got another video posting in a day that will show some of the work going on since this video was shot. Stay tuned!

In video, I reference some links:

With a british car, you will always have a well lubricated garage floor 🙂

You'll probably have to clean everything and see where the oil comes from and then address the issues one by one.

Regarding the 15 inch wheels: I think the correct tire size is actually 215/70/VR15. And there aren't many high quality options: Pirelli P5 (J), Dunlop Sport Cassic, Michelin XWX. And they are very pricey … might be an option to look into a set of 16 inch lattice wheels (not easy to find, but more tires available). Thanks for the interesting series!

I just bought a Series 3 XJ V12 from Canada. Man these V12 will put hair on your chest and test your mechanical mettle with such a tight engine bay.
