How to make a DIY Jaguar Caldoofy Intake – More power for your S Type R

How to make a DIY Jaguar Caldoofy Intake – More power for your S Type R

I’ve seen a few posts on ‘The jaguar STR’ group on facebook (https://www.facebook.com/groups/103907038613610) regarding the caldoofy intakes and wondered if this could be done cheaper than the £165 on ebay.

The ebay listing states:
Proven Dyno gains of between 10 and 14 hp as well as increasing the audible sound from the supercharger.

Can i make my own for around half this price?

Fitting this tube also removes the common issue of the plastic intake cracking at the corrogated section.

Hi could you please tell me the size of the silicone hose/pipe you used to connect the intake to the caldoofy pipe to?

J. Boogie Davis says:

Do you have a part number or specific reference vehicle for that intake?

Mike Jacobs says:

I just installed a similar intake. I couldn't believe the response off the line. A new throttlebody helped I'm sure . I can here the supercharger now. Awesome mod

Stefan Broeils says:

Keep an eye out for the chargecooler hoses below your newly made elbow. I've had this same setup and after about a year or so the hoses started leaking. The elbow was rubbing on them. My solution was to flatten the elbow into an oval shape with a vice so It cant rub or hit anything.

Sechtor says:

Nice job, and for sure some difference will be noticed, but only after complete intake up to TB – you will gain ~11hp and 10Nm torque over stock. If you change to 83mm Throttle Body, you will get another gain up to the same ~ 10hp –
But by going deeper into the engine with these mods, the costly will be .
Have you tried the Range Rover intake as well? 83mm Throttle body?

Chris Jones says:

Got a link to the elbow you used mate? Was in a 1.5 radius or a 2x do you know? New to xjr's, but as soon as I saw the caldoofy thing, I thought that's got to be cheaper to do yourself! Although I do realise from many years of dicking around with turbo motors the silicone joiners can add up £ wise!
