How To Fit Correct Mustang Bridge Squier Jaguar Jazzmaster

How To Fit Correct Mustang Bridge Squier Jaguar Jazzmaster

In this video I show how to fit the correct style Mustang Bridge on a Squier by Fender Vintage Modified Jaguar this is also the same for the Jazzmaster models with a 9.5″ radius neck

I have bought and seen a lot of used Squier Jazzmaster and Jaguars recently were people have replaced the stock bridges with a standard Mustang bridge, these do not fit correctly as the radius on these bridges is 7.25″ so the string action will never be set correctly.

There are other bridges available but I show how a Squier Vintage Modified Mustang bridge with adjustable saddles will fit perfectly and have the correct radius.

Fender Part Number 7709942000. this is the "Mustang" style bridge for the American Professional Jaguar, and yes it is a 9.5 radius.

Mees Loenen says:

Hai, i got exectly the same guitar as you do, even the same colour 😉 . I have seen lot's of people puting on the Fender mustang bridge and i almost bought it. But when you said they dont fit the radius of the neck from the squier vintage modified jaguar i immediately wanted the bridge from the video. I have no clue what type it exactlly is you're talking about and where i could find this bridge in 2020? I really need some more info on the bridge.

Jim Walker says:

wow does the Jazzmaster ultra have that kind of problem with the bridge holy moly I was thinking about buying one but I think I will pass on it just get a strat

jay etheredge says:

My Jaguar came with the mustang bridge….

stephane matis says:

Now to find some elusive Squier Vintage Modified Jaguar bridges… surprisingly I had some success via Amazon with "Baosity Guitar Parts Saddle Bridge For Mustang Electric Guitar Fit Jaguar/Jazzmaster" that shows the very same specs.

James Murray says:

I saw a SB-0223-010 Chrome Bridge for a Fender Mustang, on Ebay would that fit on the Squier VM Jaguar

Rens van Onna says:

hey man, cheers! thanx for the vid, one little question, where do you buy these bridges that fit? have you got a link maybe? cheers from Europe, the Netherlands

Dawson Miller says:

So on the Jazzmaster, (I have a modified squier made in Indonesia) and I wanna get just the bridge posts for them. I’m seeing some things about the 005-4447-049 that won’t fit and some that will fit imported. Do you possibly know anything about this? I can’t find anything online.

Vincent Paradiso says:

I ordered the same one, same color. I was advised to get one as these. Worth it in the long run? Kurt Cobain fan as well. Thanks

Matheus Del Claro says:

Hi, Rob. Do you know if this will work on the Classic Vibe line? My Jazzmaster bridge keeps "sinking" due to the strings vibration, which makes the action setup be lost. It bothers me so much

leon says:

I'm working on my friend's 60's Classic Vibe Squier JM and he really hates the stock bridge, which is the one you used to replace the Jag's bridge. He particularly hates how easy the strings pop off their saddles, so I wanted to get him a tune-o-matic like the one that comes on a Squier JM Deluxe… But finding a TOM that's got the proper radius as well as post width is nearly impossible, if at all possible. I love the TOM on my Squier JM, and I'd like to get him the same. I'm thinking I'll have to take out the current thimbles and route out a bit more of the wood to fit a TonePro TOM. I'm exhausted, man. I don't understand why Fender/Squier continues to put this vintage bridge on their models when so many people take issue with them –__

Jesse P. Pollack says:

Those stock Squier VM Jazzmaster bridges are junk – they rattle and the low E constantly pops out of the saddle.

Turbo swifT5 says:

Could you point me in the direction of a bridge for CV mustang. It also has a 9.5 radius. Is there any fender part that will fit?

Matthew Bulloch says:

The mim nitro has 7.25 radius. Was correct to old radius.

tomk1tl says:

I got that Mustang bridge to install yet……….BUT what I did was removed the original Squire Jag tailpiece as I did not like the "pop-in" vibrato arm which kept on getting loose or falling out and replaced it with a Fender American tailpiece with the screw in whammy bar…works a lot better.  I wanted to get the Statrem but the UK company selling them was not offering them anymore. Another mod was to remove the SD PU's and install the '65 Fender Jag original PU's….sounds better altho the coil impedance is different…still works for me.

CRUNCHCOLE says:

Tape around the posts don't seem like a good idea on a bridge.

Andrea Vitali says:

Hi! isn't there any pick up issue due to different strings spacing? or is string spacing on Squier Mustang bridge the same as on the Jazzmaster/Jaguar? thnx

cdreyes81 says:

Hi Rob, great vid. I do plan on picking this up for my jazzmaster. I just don't want to fiddle with this bridge anymore. I've done my research on how to set things up and kill certain buzzes or just extra weird metalic jangles. i've used the pipe threat tape in some instances.
I also don't want to use any strings heavier than 10s. my jm had 9s when i got it and it felt just right. i was used to 10s and never wanted to go lighter. i really like using 9's with heavy bottom. i believe ernie ball hybrid.

my question, does this the vm bridge change any tone like some purist have me believe?

CultureLab says:

Hi, do these bridges still solve some of the buzzing issues?

Marcelo Aragão says:

Hello bro! This bridge works on Les Paul? Thanks for your attention.

Elijah Cruzada says:

Do you think it'd be okay if I used a Mustang Tremolo Bridge instead?

David Higginbotham says:

The stock bridge can easily be made to work perfectly IF you know what you're doing. I'm not saying this gentleman doesn't know what he's doing. He does. He just hasn't thought it completely through. Don't waste your time buying Mustang bridges. Just look at your stock bridge, do some brainstorming using common sense and logic. If you're a product of the American educational system…you may have to bone-up on those concepts.

Drew Shelly says:

As you know from other comments Rob , i wasn't sure how these would sit on my lap…but this really has got to be next on my shopping list 🙂

Drew Shelly says:

Rob why don't they just fit the Mustang bridge as standard ?

Drew Shelly says:

Hi Rob , the Aria DM-01 , i thought it was paid for…2 weeks and i can't get in to town to collect it…well they could deliver , so a change of mind…going to order 1 of these instead for 310 quid :)…cheers Rob 🙂

Hopfroggerz says:

I have the same guitar and I can tell you that there is absolutely no need to replace the bridge at all.
A lot of people on the internet claim that the bridge on this guitar is crap. Well I dare to say it’s NOT. The bridge is fine. All you have to do is put some thicker strings on the guitar than you are used to. 11’s or 12’s will do and due to the fact that this guitar has a very short scale, the thicker strings don’t feel as thick as on a Tele or Strat, but have more tension so the strings won’t pop out of their saddles. I do not understand why Fender (Squier) put the stock 9 gauge strings on this guitar, the tension is so low, the strings feel like spaghetti. Now I have 11’s on my VM Jag and the guitar plays like a dream. The strings feel like the 10’s I have on my other Fender guitars. I do a lot of bending and not once has a string popped out of it’s saddle. Ok, the saddles squeek a little sometime, but that’s the charm of this model of guitar. So, save yourself some money and put 11 or 12 gauge strings on it and your guitar will be great!

cdreyes81 says:

Ok, so make sure I get the bridge from a squier vintage mod mustang. I didnt know there was a difference from the other version

Cody Walker Jr. says:

u know your shit. thx
