Fender Jaguar Vintage Guitar Repair Restoration Part 1

Fender Jaguar Vintage Guitar Repair Restoration Part 1

Fender Jaguar 1965 Vintage Guitar in Sunburst in my Luthier Workshop.
This amazing Instrument was played a lot worldwide by a famous musician and a great Band back in the days. After an inspection I decided to replace the totally worn out frets. This Guitar was refreted uncountable times and the Brazilian Rosewood Fretboard is thinner than 2 mm in some areas. After noticing that the Truss Rod is also not working well I decided to remove the Fretboard, to change the broken Truss rod and glue on a new Rosewood Fingerboard before installing the new frets. This become such a time consuming process that I will release several Videos of this Repair process.
This repair turned out into a restoration of this vintage beauty.
Enjoy the first Episode.

I've got that catalog! Since it was brand new!

@sneakyflutes says:

Oh shit, it’s Werner Herzog fixing a guitar

@mynameisvallu says:

Couldn’t the fretboard have been removed in one piece with heat and then glued on top of more rosewood to keep the original one but have more thickness? I understand that it needed something since it was so thin, but it feels kinda bad to remove it.

@jwalton5750 says:

Cut off the hand to save the arm. It’s heartbreaking but it needed to be done.

@CowboyStag says:

Is that mic jaguar

@leon_ellis says:

I’m so grateful for YouTubers who make interesting, informative content over ‘entertaining’, glitzy content. This is perfect.

@alexbostelle287 says:

With that play history could that have been owned by an iconic legend and to disturb it in anyway …….insane???

@lordofthestings says:

Thats a Fender Yawg-waa.

@denyel_ says:

does steam treatment not dissolve the glue from the ftetboard on old fenders?
very satisfying chipping away at it though!

If you ever come anywhere near my daughter, I promise that things will go badly for you…

@Stringsmith says:

Great vid, thanks for sharing.
That first string used to try and pull the truss rod must have been an Elixir for how easily it broke.

@ElliotCole333 says:

I love how clean that fretboard came off, I've never seen it done like this. Brilliant work.

I have watched all 5 videos of this repair guitar and I am amazed at your skill and dedication and your attention to detail. One question to ask , You profiled the neck at 7.25 and then profiled the fret board to fit it. Was this common practice with Fender in those days or did they fit the fingerboard to a flat neck .
