1958 Jaguar XK 150 Chrome Windscreen Trim Issues ( The Plan ) Part 2

I hope to get a better understanding of how to fettle & shape the trim sections by using some scrap alloy and then 2mm brass to make a template for both sides of the screen uprights. This really will be a big learning Curve Yes the Pun was intended.

Hi Dave . I would have made mock ups in cardboard as l do with all my fabricating and then transfered them to brass /metal . In fact l would use thin gauge metal , after all bumpers are steel …….just a thought ….Cheers !

Dave, this saga is certainly testing the saying “keep the faith”. Fingers crossed the brass templates give you the solution. I assume you’ve gone a Jaguar forum to see if there are any others that have posted about such specialist trim fixing remedies? That looks like a tricky thing to add a bend or rolling it over to shape it to match the main section. But that said I’m sure you’ve got a tool in your vast array to do the job. Good luck. Look forward to the next update.

Man you could get a fab shop to 3D scan those pillars and cnc cut two bronze bucks to press those hockey sticks for way cheaper than a grand

This was fascinating. This means just before the 1960s began car manufacturers were more true car builders. The guys working on the cars had to be top notch craftsmen.
Great history and a very interesting explanation of what took place. Super video!
