Hello Scotty I’m a huge fan. Last year I had my power steering high
pressure hose replaced. Now my mechanic said I need to replace my power
steering suction hose (experienced burning/smoke coming through the vents a
day ago). I drive a 2000 nissan maxima and would like to give this a shot.
Is this something I can DIY my self. Is it the same concept as this video.

Reginellicapone says:

Thanks. Scotty. And sidebar..I have the infamous security light issue
(passlock) with my 02 base Impala. When I bought it, it had a locksmiths
key, not the factory one. Could that be an issue?

Alex Nares says:

Hey thanks for your videos they help alot. But i do have one question.. my
02 hyaundi sonta power steering is very loud. The fluids never been changed
but also the fluids never go down in the resivor. So i dont think there is
a leak. Do you think maybe the fluids arnt reaching the pump so thats why
its loud? Or do you think its the pump itself. Thanks

Spencer Young says:

love the vids they’ve helped me replace a few parts on oth my 04 jeep and
my wifes 01 toyota

i was hoping for your opinion tho i just replaced my leaky high pressure
power steering hose on my jeep but its still kinda groaning no were near as
loud as before tho is it possibly just air in the system or do you think
the pump also need replaced (i drove it about 5 miles before knowing that
the ps reservoir was bone dry and and found out i had a leaky hose upon
refilling it)

Killerclown360 says:

I lost power steering in my 04 Dodge Neon the other day, no noises, just
completely stopped functioning. Checked the resivior and it’s still full,
and the engine idles high now too. Is it safe to say it’s busted? And is
driving it as-is damaging in any way? (It’s a pain, but I have the strength
to drive it still)

Jeff Thompson says:

heres a good one– off topic— when driving down a steep mountain is it ok
to slip my nissan sentra, buick or whatever in neutral and drift, saving
gas—- or will it damage the automatic transmission when i put it back in
the drive position…remember im traveling at 50 60 miles per hour when im
taking it in and out of gear. thanks -keep up the good vids.

Hi scotty, hope you’re doin fine, thanks for your videos! I got a Honda
civic 2008 with 90 miles on it,, today ive done the change oil & engine
flush, then the mechanic told me that there is a leak coming from power
steering pump/hose (not sure where it was) but more likely on the steering
pump, since the shop is only for change oil services they could not
determine where exactly the leak coming from, if the power steering pump is
damage how much it would cost? and how long it would be change? thanks in
advance.

GUS GONZALES says:

Hey scotty, i inherited a 1998 lexus es300 that has massive leaks all over
it. High pressure line, rear and main seals, radiator were leaking my
friend said. And noise on the engine which could be the tensioner he also
said. My mechanic replaced the timing belt, water pump, tensioner and the
front seal. The power steering hose was also replaced. Leak stopped he said
and after driving it for few hours, there was a little leak. Next day, it
was making a noise and when i turned the wheel it made a weird noise. I
looked atvthe ps reservoir and it was almost empty. Refilled it and few
hours of use empty again BUT the leak is only 2 inches big. What causes the
problem? And by the way, the engine noise is still there even timing belt
kit was replaced. Pls help!

KiwiPowerNZ says:

Hey Scotty, I just bought a 2006 Toyota Corolla and the power steering
fluid looks pretty dirty and old in the reservoir it’s done 280,000km.
Where do I drain it so I can put new oil in? Since there’s no filter should
I wash it out with new oil then change it again, it would make me feel
better.

Hi Scotty! My car is leaking and I am assuming it is due to my steering
wheel. It makes a weird noise and is hard to maneuver. Would this process
also work for a 1999 Audi A6?

Valentino S says:

Well i replaced a power steering hose on my 92 camaro and it still leaks,
then watched this video as your my go to guide, heard that u said “power
steering hoses can use up to 1500 pounds of torque” went back and tightened
that hose even more, and sure enough ur videos helped another in need

wisdom!!

Hey Scotty I have a problem with my power steering its been leaking and
haven’t had the money to replace but now it’s coming to the point where
smoke is coming out could it be a bigger problem now

Diamond Laquashia Wider says:

Hey scotty how do I change the high pressure hose on a 1999 Lincoln
Continental thats leaking A LOT ….with occasional smoke..?

tubeberk08 says:

wow, I just watched this. I flushed my p/s fluid few days ago cause of
groans and low level.. but i think there is a leak behind my driver side
tire, same as in this video.., saw some squirt marks on my driveway after
few 3-point turn arounds, and it needed more fluid. It’s a 99 ford taurus,
Guess i will see more after removing the wheel.

SnapCracklePapa says:

I have a 2004 Acura MDX. Can the ps hose be accessed without lowering the
subframe? Thanks for the vids, Scotty. You’re the best.

Sarah Dixon says:

Charlie Syraic says:

Is this basically the same method used for replacing the power steering
return line?

Russell Comer says:

That looked like Trans fluid, surely it works to a degree as the PSF

QUESTION :Flushing with brake fluid, good or bad idea?

David O Dea says:

Scotty could u do a vid of how to do a power steering fluid change/flush ?
my stuff should be clear ands it all filthy and black !!! ?

This guy is awesome. Thank you sir.

Donnie Vick says:

Hi Scotty, I have a 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan. Today I had a PS leak start
and.within an hour or so the reservoir was empty. I think it’s the return
line as I followed the line from the reservoir and could see it dripping on
the other end where there was a clamp. The clamp is a squeeze clamp, but
there doesn’t appear to be room to get at it. Do I need to take the
passenger front tire off to get at it, or is there an easier way to have a
look? Thanks for all you do!

Valentino S says:

Over 1500 lbs of pressure* sorry

Shem Walker, CEO says:

and a massive leak and it busted again what could be causing it?

hnkfsh81 says:

I’d like to replace the power steering hose between the reservoir and the
cooler on my car. How do you remove the hose from the cooler? It seems to
have a metal fitting. What tool would you use? Thanks!

freshdopeswagg says:

My power steering went out the said it was the hose so I can just purchase
one and follow the same steps correct ?
