hey scotty 1995 buick century do I have to drop the tank to replace the
fuel pump
I was happy to discover that Hyndai Elantra (2003 at least) has a special
access hatch under rear seat to access the fuel pump, no need to get entire
fuel tank out or even jack up the car! Next time I buy a car I’ll make sure
to get one with such a hatch again.
Scotty, I watch your youtube vids for all my car problems. I have a 98
honda accord ex coupe model car and I watched your how to on cleaning the
egr valve port and completed that. The problem is that my car still shuts
off in route, particularly in an intersection or highways, all the most
dangerous spots for your car to shut off. Can you tell me what it is that
you think it might be that’s causing it to do this before I put a bullet in
it? This is my only car and I’m in jeopardy of losing my job because of it.

I changed the fuel pump fuse because the old one was burned out. Will my
car start at all if my fuel pump is bad? I’m also trying to test the relay

Hi Scotty. My son has a 93 Ford Ranger 4.0. It dies at stoplights all the
time and idles really rough. When you do an emergency stop, the engine
immediately dies. Cleaned the throttle body and the MAF, tuned up new plugs
and wires, same result. Any help would be much appreciated . Thank you.
But what exactly does a fuel pressure test tell me; If it’s 0.5 bar lower,
is that bad or within spec? And how much time is there between lower
pressure and total failure? A day? A month?
Found where the relay was hiding on my own, think I have a knack for this

see what looks to be the door that leads to the pump inside the trunk. Can
I fix the pump or modify it some kind of way until I am able to purchase a

Scotty, I have a question. I had the fuel pump replaced 1.5 years ago in my
1996 Chevy c1500 4.3 liter truck. Now, the truck has an intermittent
starting issue and a mechanic who I trust said it is the fuel pump check
valve. Instead of me going to all the trouble of replacing the pump, could
I install an inline check valve in the gas line? I know it is probably a
dumb question…

believe the fuel pump might be the problem. i want to do it myself instead
of having someone do it but i do not have the necessary tools to do it

yes, some have that capability. Get your VIN number, call a dealer parts
dept, they can tell you for sure.

make sure ALL the brake bulbs are coming on at back. If so, the brake
warning system has broken down, it works by ground fault interrupter
circuitry wihch often breaks down on a Honda that old. You can remove the
dash and take the bulb out if it bothers you
either a crappy pump, or it was put in wrong and sucks air when the tank is
less than half full, seen that many times, make sure the suction hose
feeding it is low.

all the time. Most cars now hide the pump inside the tank with no access
panel in the trunk.
Most of the time that take out the fuel pump is a bad fuel filter, true?
Me mechanic is fixing my 2000. Pontiac firebird hes said its 650 for part
and 300 for the labor. Is that right???

weak fuel pump is common, pressure test it AFTER changing the fuel filter.

they are hiding inside the gas tank, BUT you can remove the rear seat and
access them from inside the car
Cause my has sat for a year then I would started it on but not run it then
one day it would start just crank..I put started fluid it turn on then
turned off. I was told it was cause my security light was on idk someone
else recommend me change the fuel pump?? Wat you think is the problem

remember seeing him connecting the jumper cables while his car was still
running. He did this to himself on this one – By the way Airborne All the
Way! .. 🙂
sending unit works the fuel gauge, pump pushes fuel into the system. if the
gauge is not working, replace the sending unit
old age, pump is starting to wear out. It can make noise for quite some
time though before it finally craps out
