I got a p0400, when i get to a stop signs or light, sometimes my rpms go up
and back to idle, like it tries tovgo on its own, it goes to about 1600 and
drops right back down but numerous times, when i switch ti park, itll idle
high, today in replacing my radiator, cleaning my TB, IACV, and egr with
carb cleaner, i couldnt remove it so i shot it in the hole through the
manifold. Any other suggestions? 98infiniti i30, same as a 98 maxima

ldubski says:

i just did this procedure only because i had to replace the gaskets on the
valve covers. when i saw that my egr tube was completely clogged just like
the one in the video i was amazed. in the summertime after driving the car
for about 25 mins or so i would dread coming to a stop light because it
would die and not start up for a few mins. After taking everything apart I
saw that I needed to replace several vacuum hoses alot of them were like
stiff plastic. Anyone know how to prevent this from happening?…The
massive carbon deposits…

Bill Dull says:

Good, coverage. going to give it a try. Looks like big fun.

My sons 95 seems like the same problem. It has a different port for my scan
tool but we were able to get the trouble code by counting the lights on the
cluster. We also noticed when the car is at a stop in drive the idle drops
in and out like the tranny is slipping but rpm drops so we know it’s not
the tranny. Any suggestions? The gaskets are OEM or can you get them at a
local parts store. Thanks you this video. I think were going to dive into
this one.

How did you remove the bottom bolts for the Egr tube when there is a big
tube in front if the nuts? I cant get them out

John Laurente says:

good job eventhough we didnt see how to remove the egr

Great video. Very informative.
I have a 99 Merc. Villager which has the Nissan V6 engine. Also the same
PO400 code. That carbon blockage is really bad. My car has 128000 miles on
it. Can you remember the mileage you had on that Maxima??

Great tip at 12:30 about trimming the stud with a Dremel tool. I didn’t
think it would work without damaging the pipe surrounding it but it did,
and rather easily. Thanks for putting this video out there, it is a very
useful guide.

Peter D'Ambra says:

Thanks Ozz for the quick reply back. 105k isn’t many miles but I can see
your point about the gas.. I only use Shell gas in my car so it will be
interesting to see how much carbon I’ll find in mine. Thanks again.

I’m doing this on a 2000 Infiniti i30 and this video had the most details
out of every video/website/article I have come across. Much appreciated
man, hopefully I’ll be able to get this done this weekend!
