IAMGOD712007, You are describing a normal engine start up. Starting an
engine after changing the oil is not a normal start, especially when there
is no oil in the oil filter. It is my opinion that it will take a bit more
than a microsecond to fill/saturate the oil filter to enable normal oil
pressure.
Because the filter is a vertical mount on the motor, it is relatively easy
to install an oil filter that has been preloaded with oil. I am not
suggesting that the filter be overflowing with oil, just preloaded with oil
to saturate the filter element. You can skip this step as you wish, but I
like to think that it indeed does make a difference over the life of the
engine.

I like knowing that the job is done correctly and if I do it, I know.
Thanks for the feedback and watching.

Great video!!! Good detail and not too complicated. For the weekend Car
Warrior.

Richard Lloyd says:

Most welcome. Thanks for watching.

Excellent video and I appreciate your attention to detail; video in HD
definitely makes it so much clearer !!

Richard Lloyd says:

Thank you. I am keeping a record (digital photos) of my sales slips for the
oil filters and oil. As well as a picture of the slips with the odometer in
the same picture to prove when I changed the oil and filter. I don’t want
any disputes with Hyundai if I need warranty work. Thanks for the feedback
and thanks for watching.

excellent video. I’ll be doing my first oil change on the Sonata 2.0T..
this is going to be the car’s first oil change and your video has answered
everything.

Richard Lloyd says:

I forgot to show that in the video. Thanks for pointing that out. I put
your suggestion into the description and I do fill the oil filter with new
oil prior to starting the engine.

William Price says:

Since the oil filter is mounted on the motor in a vertical position, you
can (and should) put fresh oil into the filter before installing to
minimize the amount of time oil is not flowing thru the engine when
started.

Wonder if your oil looks black right after changing like it does on my 2013
2.0 liter turbo Santa Fe? Thanks.

Richard Lloyd says:

This was the first oil change. You can see how dirty it is when it draining
in the video. How often do you replace it and what type of oil do you use?
Do you change the filter every time? What type of filter do you use?
