Yah our Honda Accord 2013 direct injected earth dreams 2.4 engine started burning oil at around the same rate of 1 qt/1000 miles at around 60k miles. I had too much time on my hands so I kept experimenting with different oil brands and additives. Marvel mystery oil and amsoil 0w-20 are in the engine now and so far no oil loss after 400 miles. Also changed the PCV valve a couple of times over the same 160k miles. Only had to change the front catalytic converters to pass inspection. Otherwise everything else works and it drives like a new car. Also if anyone shops at Costco, they have 6 qts of Mobil 0w-20 for $30-35 on sale. I just buy a box and throw it in the trunk just in case.

My neighbors kid was given a 2007 Santa Fe by his aunt. The gas tank was rotted through and it leaked gas on his driveway. We changed out the tank, then decided to change the plugs. Big mistake. We had to remove the intake manifold to get to the three rear plugs, and there were bolts from the rear. What a PIA!
Lol it wouldve been funny if during the gas price increase, his intro wouldve been changed to" turn off your engines"
My colleague hasn’t driven his cars in nearly two months. Has food (groceries) delivered to the house, walks or rides bike to work. Says he’s saved a substantial enough amount of $ to make it worthwhile. But the $185 walking shoes, $1600 for the bike, I suppose it all evens out, or not.
in 2020 i got a 2011 corolla with 68k miles for either $8k to $10k, ironically i dont remember even though im still making payments. I just hit 77k miles today and the vehicle has not had a single problem. At 75k i did the transmission drain and fill along with the coolant myself. I've also changed the oil myself every 3k miles. It shifts great, gets pretty good gas mileage, ac blows cold, has 0 leaks, and burns 0 oil. I know right now prices are up but even if i was in the market for a car today i would go for a toyota. I dont understand why people will buy a pos just to save a few thousand… it's beyond me.
The "tranny" is shifting excellent. That can have two different meanings these days.
