South Main Auto Repair LLC says:

Hey Jim, good job man. I have seen those purge valves cause all sorts of issues. Hard starts after refueling, lean and rich codes (at the same time) and then of course gross evap leaks and incorrect purge flow like what you had. Hey Vanessa said you called today and I missed it! Any how Merry Christmas to you and your family! Take care and promise to stop over next time I am down state. Hope they get that bridge open soon 🙂 Take care –Eric O.

The 3 Larditos says:

Will this be similar for a 2008 Kia rondo?

Inga Scheib says:

I have a P0497 on my Hyundai accent. I can't find a video with that exact code. Code reads Low purge flow. I'm thinking it's the purge valve? I have noticed a bit of a sluggish feel to the engine. So I want to get this right also check gas cap light went on after filling up. AutoZone told me it was the fuel tank pressure sensor. I don't believe that. It's the most expensive part they have… They are salesmen, not mechanics…

Justin Gall says:

This is the only video on YouTube that shows how to actually change out the part. Thank you for the service.

Luke Lamplugh says:

Hi Jim! Do you have any advice on if the purge valve holds vacuum but the engine light still comes on? Thanks!

I. SHOK says:

Thank you very much, master.

It turned out that this valve needs to be diagnosed only with a vacuum. If you just blow it with air, it holds, when 12 volts are supplied it opens. On the winding 23 ohms. But the vacuum does not hold. The question arises – if the valve is in this state on the car, will there be an increased fuel consumption, since in this case the vacuum draws gasoline from the throttle …

Carter Reid says:

So I am guessing you go not have to worry about disconnecting the battery when switching valves?

08 hyndaui elantra. Replaced with new part, Code didn't go away with the reader. Pulled the negative batt cable for 15 ish minutes and the code went away. Now 3 days later it came back with a 0441 again.

Mark King says:

I'm looking at a 2012 Hyundai Genesis with this code. Owner changed the valve and showed me, and it looks new. I cleared the code, took it for test drive, and the code status says "permanent" What in the world is a permanent code???? It sounds like the historical code on this vehicle.

Mac NIcholson says:

Hi Jim ,
Great video, I have the same code on my 2014 Kia Forte Koup 1.6L Turbo . Would that be locate in the same place on my car? How long can I drive the car before replacement is made?
