Final Diagnosis: 2010 Hyundai Accent — No Start After Starter & O2 Replacement

Final Diagnosis: 2010 Hyundai Accent — No Start After Starter & O2 Replacement

In a previous video we fixed a 2010 Hyundai Accent that came in as a no-start. The starter was replaced, and a front O2 sensor stuck lean was flooding the engine. After replacing the O2, fuel trims looked perfect and the car ran normally. A few days later it’s back on the hook with another no-start. In this video we dig in and track down what’s still causing the Accent to refuse to start once and for all.

Well well well, I certainly didn't expect a sequel on this Hyundai after you fixed it, and gave us the nice hour long video & sent her down the road with new O² sens. & starter. This should be interesting….

I always hated this time of year because of heating the shop.

@wysetech2000 says:

I said to myself from the beginning to change the crank sensor. I have seen so many different scenarios on those mechanical assholes, the crank sensor was the first thing I changed after testing everything. We used to stock them. 98% of the time I was right. Now that I am retired, I just watch and smile.

Onya Sir, the lack of codes was a thing eh, meanwhile keep warm over there…

@yosefmama1136 says:

Wow, that's why I watch your videos. You are not only an excellent mechanic , you can also teach well. So when you hit the garage door remote control, and didn't get an immediate response, I knew your remote had rust jacking &was double o ringed immediately. But, being an OLD electronics tech I wasn't 100% sure it couldn't be low battery voltage because THEY didn't hand out any temperature to you guys at that time. Seems like there isn't anything your politicians won't do to make every American unhappy. God bless you all.

@xerxes456 says:

No, start with a stick shift and a two-wire crank sensor. I test it by letting it go downhill, and the car starts because of higher engine RPM. That is, if it is a low-amplitude problem. It probably works with tow starts too. Great videos as always. In Europe, most cars used to be stick shift, not like the USA with Automatic.

Here I am complaining when it's 24.8 degrees Fahrenheit and it only been that cold for a few hours a day though I am outside working in it.

@brandonsimunac says:

Every Hyundai Acc-ident I have ever touched turned into a shop queen. It senses it's getting care, it finally falls to pieces haha.

@ShowMeWhatINeedToKnow says:

The old Hyundais were the best – reliability wise.

@georgenice says:

0:10 Can't find a reference to it for this model but spent a huge amount of time with a Hyundai years ago that wouldn't start on cod days turns out that the ECU wouldn't do anything until it saw 260rpm on crank.

@vietnamvet6726 says:

How does gasoline get on the crank sensor anyway.? That is really weird.

@LabCat says:

0:50 I've never heard that variation of that saying! My family has always said "Colder than a well-digger's (butt) in Minneanapolis." (And yes, the misspelling is deliberate.)

What happened to OEMs having to manufacture parts for cars 10 years after the model ended? Was that just my imagination?

@oldbiker9739 says:

Its all ways what was the customers last thing he did .

Nicely done sir!

@dougmottert2258 says:

You are the man . Great job

@truthsmiles says:

That injector pulse pattern was wild! Nice work Eric!

Nice the original sensor was there, but I’d bet a dollar once the rust was cleaned up and the extra o-ring removed it would have worked even with the aftermarket sensor.
