Old Honda EU2000i Generator Leaking Fuel

Old Honda EU2000i Generator Leaking Fuel

A local subscriber dropped off his Honda EU2000i. When it started leaking gas he called a few local shops in his area and nobody wanted to look at it. He then called the Honda dealer and they told him it was too old and they tried to sell him a newer model. A leaking carb is the most common problem to have and usually an easy fix. Lets find out.

You should be able to add a filter capacitor to bring that THD down like they use to do for radios in cars. It would even be easier on the bigger generators. Just a thought always enjoy your videos

Bob Bell says:

A compression test and a look at the low oil switch would have been informative. It's a Honda so the oil getting in the cylinder is probably a valve seal

Willem Vant Sant says:

I have the same one, rarely used since I bought it.
Will give it a birthday, change oil etc after seeing the THD and Sinewave, better than the power grid!

W S says:

What brand torque wrench do you use.

noel castle says:

A great video as always , cannot understand how the original jet and float arrangement could end up like that with original parts still installed. Watching the sine wave output and THD reading's being so close to perfect makes me want to further study the concepts and hardware that makes that possible . Filters and PWM technology with zero distortion on crossover where usually you would expect some more distortion. Inverter technology using powerful rare earth magnets instead of coil generated fields and the rotating speed not effecting frequency is so much more effient.

Leandro laporta says:

Honda EU series, can't get better.than that and actually you have the.big brother the eu7000 which is a monster machine, I have the eu3000 and it is also a fantastic and reliable machine when you take care of it, they are expensive but for a good reason

Christopher Tyler says:

Wow that sign wave is really clean and no bumps or switching noise and cross channel distortion

Al Malugani says:

good cleane up the decals made the trip al

Rodney Middleton says:

The one I picked up with a bad inverter board smoked like that. Thanks Jim!!!! Where did you get the decal kit?

alwayssomething says:

James, since you have that heat gun out already you should try and warm up that plastics where they are white a lot of times it’ll come back around to looking new. Love the vids

Marc Held says:

Hi James. Another great repair. Where did you source the Honda Emblems? Thank you.
