Hi Jeremy. Turns out that we didn’t need a new carb. Just a thorough
cleaning of all it’s parts. Bought all new carb-air cleaner gaskets. Had a
problem by not installing them in the correct manner. I downloaded a view
of this carb and gaskets. My wife made sure I positioned each correctly.
Voila, we now have an excellent running Honda lawnmower. Thanks so much for
your valued assistance. Pete M.

JEREMY FOUNTAIN says:

asn long as the part numbers match then yes

Peter Mitchell says:

Thanks Jeremy. Can I replace it with the Amazon carb that you have listed
here in this video?

JEREMY FOUNTAIN says:

Peter Mitchell says:

Hi Jeremy. I removed and cleaned my HRR 216 carb per your video. I replaced
all gaskets with new and put it all back together. It won’t start and gas
is running out of the air cleaner? What did I do wrong?

Ron Free says:

Thanks Jeremy, I have a Honda engine very similar to this one except it
has an automatic return choke with fixed throttle. I cleaned the carb and
is not running right. It runs rich, uses twice as much gas, and erratically
surges with occasional puffs of black smoke. The new spark plug also fouls
quickly. When I cleaned the carb I tried not to change any adjustable
controls. Could it be that I didn’t get something reinstalled property that
does allow the choke to close completely?

Hello! I got a Honda GC 160 engine and a track that would lead from
gasoline pipelines. What is the name this song?

can i buy parts for the lawnmower at the auto honda dealer ?

Chris Henry says:

Thanks – I will try cleaning out my carberator next weekend and let you
know how it goes. My mower has been surging severely and dies within 2 – 3
minutes.

Sam McCain says:

This was a huge help. Was able to get my mower running within 15 minutes!!

JEREMY FOUNTAIN says:

MORE THAN LIKELY THE VALVE COVER IS DENTED IN CAUSING THE VALVES TO STICK
OPEN

AwesomeFuture777 says:

Ok thanks Ill call them tomorrow

Sorry, but the above comment was not made by me (fredbasking). My father
must not have signed out of my account before he decided to piss on your
efforts to be helpful. I distinctly remember him teaching me a lesson when
I was young… Something like.. “if you don’t have anything nice to say,
don’t say anything at all..” apparently he’s forgotten..

JEREMY FOUNTAIN says:

Go to my channel and search how to set rpms

JEREMY FOUNTAIN says:

TERRY THE BACKFIRE IN MOST CASES IS A IGNITION TIMING ISSUE WETHER IT BE
MECHANICAL OR ELECTRICAL…..AS FOR THE OIL IN THE CARB THROAT I WOULD HAVE
TO LEAN TOWARD OVER PRESSUIZATION OF THE CRANKCASE AS IN MAYBE A BAD PCV
VALVE, SEVERE BLOW BY, OR ITS OVERFILLED ON OIL……LET US KNOW WHAT YOU
FIND OUT

angrysquirrel11 says:

Can I use a paperclip to clean the holes inside the carb? I don’t have any
compressed air. My poulin pro surges and will die when I hit any kind of
normal thickness grass. I pulled on some wire thingy (maybe it’s the choke)
and it ran at full speed for a while. Then it just died. There was gas
coming out of the air cleaner. New spark plug and new air filter in it. New
oil. I get a spark with the plug. Thanks!

Im having the same problem…reassembly video would really help !

brian e says:

Appreciate the videso on this subject since it seems that a lot of Honda
lawnmowers suffer from this issue. How did you test the gas cap?

JEREMY FOUNTAIN says:

call your local honda dealer with the serial number……they can give you
not only the year but what day it was sold and who it was sold to

mikerecike says:

great vid. can you explain how you set the rpms on your mowers? maybe
another vid? your time is much appreciated.

AwesomeFuture777 says:

Thanks Jeremy! I was relieved to find out that there is definitely a
compression relief mechanism built in to reduce compression during starts.
This is why there was no compression when I put my thumb over the sparkplug
hole while cranking it…

Mike Donnelly says:

Thank you for the video. Everything you did was great and if you do no more
.. still great. As someone who didnt even know what the carburetor looked
like before this video, there were some skipped steps that I would like to
have seen some I have figured and some I hope to namely: 1. taking the
carburetor off 2. disassemble the carburetor – dunno where to find those
pins but hope to find after I clean exterior and remove the screws you
indicated Thanks

JEREMY FOUNTAIN says:

im sorry you didnt like the video….this was one of my first ones……the
detail aspect of my vids have gotten much better with better cameras and
more time to produce them…..i dont do this for a living like eric or
donny…..its just a hobby……thanks for the comment.

AwesomeFuture777 says:

Jeremy, how can I find out what year my mower is? Model HRR2163VXA

ravager349 says:

I have an ariens push mower with the exact same engine and carb, but my
problem is it will only run when fully choked is that a valve or carb
problem. when not choked the engine will die.

Terry Boeholt says:

This is a little off topic, but you said if I had any honda questions to
ask. I have a HRX217HMA in my shop that is backfiring and oil is coming out
the carb throat. I also asked Donyboy73 if he might know what is causing
this, so hopefully between the three of us I can get this figured out. I
really appreciate your efforts and now can reassemble these carbs and
linkages alot easier. Great job!!! Terry aka FISER (Fox Island Small Engine
Repair) WA. That is!

JEREMY FOUNTAIN says:

did u pull all the jets out of the carb when you cleaned it?

noynic says:

Thanks, just what I’ve been looking for.

medinaumc says:

Good video. It really helped in cleaning the carb on my Honda Lawnmower. In
putting it back together… there are a lot of shields and gaskets! I’m
having trouble lining up the gaskets and shields. Is there a trick to it. I
confess that I’m pretty ignorant about gaskets and stuff, but is there a
way to get the gaskets to stick?

TheTexasCoder says:

Great video man! This is something that youtube needs. Thank you! Do you
find that the Ethanol gas is playing hell on the smaller 2 cycle engines?
Gumming things up and causing repairs prematurely? Keep the videos coming!

AwesomeFuture777 says:

ok Thanks again!

AwesomeFuture777 says:

Hi Jeremy! I have an HRR2163VXA that wont start, and the carb has been gone
through. When I put my thumb over the sparkplug hole, there isnt any
compression. Is there a compression relief to start easier? There is spark,
not sure about the atmospheric pressure hole whether it is plugged or not,
but will check that tomorrow. I also enjoy Eric the car guy’s videos. Him
and Scotty Kilmer are my favorites, and now I think I have another sir!
LOL, thanks again and look forward to your reply.

Mike McCurry says:

Got a honda gx 120 on classen areator surging at full throttle , Some fine
trash in tank and carb probably from customer using old fuel to fill up
before he brought back his rental. Drained tank cleaned carb replaced gov
spring still the same. What am I missing?

JEREMY FOUNTAIN says:

yes there is a big one at that

Bigdog says:

Thanks. This is very helpful. I have a similar problem with my honda mower.
It runs great choked and partially choked, but surges when choke is off.
Any advice is appreciated. Using fresh gas, cleaned filter, new spark plug.

Bugg205 says:

Jeremy can you check out my video and let me know if you can help??

JEREMY FOUNTAIN says:

PULL THE FILTER OUT OF THE TANK AND CLEAN IT
