rev’d it too high

If you do, you’ll regret it later when you need to replace something else.

@alexsuchapimp Friend, without me username ‘davidsfarmfans’ would not
exist, this channel would not have ever existed (with almost all of his old
videos), and davidsfarm4 would never have existed. I also helped make the
torrent of all his old videos.

avery3573 says:

Can someone please message me the tools needed for this project. That would
be a great help. Thank you. 🙂

Travis Garner says:

You’re good man, you’re real good. A lot of experience and it’s obvious.
You are also the typical mechanic who rips people off though. I bet you
have all sorts of tips to cut corners and charge people for time you never
spent on their bikes, cars, etc. “If you want to get real sneaky you can
charge the full amount.” So you bill the customer for time you didn’t spend
on there bike? This is 90 percent of mechanics.

ANDO999999 says:

cut your fuckin pinky figernail

Tyler Oneil says:

do you know how long it would tke to replace a timing chain on a 1991 honda
four trax 300 the normal way?

Rick Baartman says:

Exactly right re the cam timing marks. Dave forgot this one crucial step,
which could mean that his cam timing is out by one or two teeth of the
upper sprocket.

David Tocker says:

And I love the -no locktite or anything- comment. Even the FSM says -use
locktite-

wallster44 says:

Great video, this really helped me familiarize the inner workings of my ’78
XL250. I successfully replaced the cam chain thanks to your video. The only
note I can add is when I removed the mechanical advance there was a pin
pressed into the shaft (that drives the advance unit) which stopped the
lower cam chain gear from being pulled off. I had to tap it down into the
shaft (just a hair) and the gear came out. Other than that your video was
spot on. Thanks again.

blackbirdxx928 says:

Might have stole somebody’s vid but ive been doing it that way before there
was you-tube……come to think about it was there even internet in 1978? I
didn’t have the money or the time to split cases on my 77 Zuki 750. Does
anybody know how to recharge a honda monoshock when it doesn’t have a
shrader valve?

Ryan Inq says:

fucking awesome, thank you!

Alex's Bikes and Motors says:

you stole daves video you dick

Mick Furness says:

I see this is a 250S. Is there a chain tension adjuster like yours on the
250r xlx? If no.. how do I adjust the chain?

PurpleGigalo9 says:

That’s an odd setup for a timing chain; I’m used to them being on the right
side.

Hector Orantes says:

Gracias por tan buen video

dumbo7429 says:

now lets put this gear on “ANYOLD WAY” no no no Always gears bearings
shafts SAME WAY THEYVE BEEN RUNNING that includes chains .. I wont waste
breathe explaining why ,just have a little think about why…

wheelie w says:

Or you could just pop off the flywheel and have access to the gear. In fact
you have already done that why take a chance on welding the chain?

סהר שוקר says:

Helped me a lot on sone other bike. . Very good explanations. Thanks.

shihab elkhatip says:

To average folks who want to lose fat eventually, Copy and paste into
Google Fat Blast Blueprint and get started.

Frank Newcomb says:

Ya ive done that!

hondaxl250k0 says:

do not cut your new timing chain… holy shit you can put it on in one
pcs… thats just asking for trouble.. and when you weld it it ruins the
temper on the chain.. your asking to lose your head.. lol.. valves
anyway…. badbadbad

David Tocker says:

What a stupid idea. Those chains have to do a LOT of work. Why not take the
opportunity to take the head off and check all the other stuff and not cut
the chain. If HONDA thought this was a good idea then they would have just
put a joiner in the chain. I don’t like to be so negative but I think even
putting the idea in peoples heads is irresponsible. A gasket set is only
about $40.

Frank Newcomb says:

What Ive also done is use a tiny dremel drill and make a dimple then used a
chain breaker ,that way you don’t need to grind or weld the peace since the
chain only pull down and not sideways

peter clark says:

funny comment’s, mechanics can go anywhere with anything they just know
what its capable off and for how long, shiny paint isnt the ruler.Thank you
for the vid.

lochmac7 says:

I really appretiate you posting this video. It helped me alot!

Juliana Brown says:

Can you be my new dad? Really though.. what kinda job is this? Ya didn’t
yell or break anything or throw stuff… Your hearts not in it! hehe 😉

rockwood734 says:

dose anyone know the wiring harness for the xl 500s because i have no
ignition for it can anyone tell me plz

InsideThe10Ring says:

Put the crank at TDC (“T” lined up with the notch). Line up the cam timing
marks (on the inside of the cam sprocket) to be horizontal in line with the
top of the head. Don’t just eyeball the cam bolt to be “straight up” – use
the timing marks. And don’t forget to NOT silicon the OIL PASSAGE closed to
the top of the engine when you reinstall the side cover! I commented on
that in your first video so take a look if anyone isn’t sure which of those
holes is the oil passage. Great videos.

steven bloomfield says:

what if it has a timing belt lol i dont think i can weld that

dumbo7429 says:

Also always turn engine over gently by hand a couple of revolutions ,
BEFORE REVVING THE SHIT OUT OF IT ! If it dosnt want to turn check why .
CONFIDENCE GOOD COCKHEADEDNESS BAD

Joey L says:

might not seem like it at first but this is one of the best videos on how
to do this. anybody can understand this. i have the exact bike and i did
exactly what he did and it worked. just pay attention to the timing setting
when doing this. thanks dave

twinshocktizard says:

not the correct way and the bike sounds shit
