How To Replace Control Switches (Audio / Cruise Main) On Steering Wheel For Honda Accord 2003-2007

Having problem with main cruise control / audio switches on the steering wheel on Honda Accord 2003-2007? Perhaps replacing the control switches would be one of the ways to fix the problem you might have such as malfunction, broken or the buttons stopped latching.

It is very easy to do, require minimal tools and only take a few minutes. Genuine new Honda OEM parts might be somewhat expensive but you might be able to get it cheaper with aftermarket parts or even from the junk yard.

This video should help you get some ideas on how to remove, replace and install these control switches. On some models such as DX, only the cruise control is available, but for the LX & EX models, there’s also an audio control switch on the left side of the steering wheel.

This video was done on a 2004 Accord 2.4L (which is the same as 2003, 2005, 2006 & 2007). The process should be similar to many other Honda or Acura models such as Civic, CRV, Element, Pilot & Odyssey.

Here are some of the things you might want to consider when trying to diagnose or troubleshoot your broken switches. If you only have one control switch (which is main cruise), then perhaps an easiest and cheapest method to solve the problem might be to swap the unit with a new one. If that doesn’t work, then you may need to check the continuity of your brake switch on top of the brake pedal or replace the cable reel / clock spring, especially if both of your switches are not working at the same time. It would be rare for both switches to be broken simultaneously.

My 03 accord cruise control buttons work but the radio control buttons don't work. Think that's the switch or clock spring? Thanks for the video!

Joshua Trujillo says:

My doesn't have a clip. It's two white connectors soldered to the board.

Ren N says:

so if none of the buttons work on audio side, the clock spring is broken?

Hi, where you buy the switches from? Tia.

jewel niles says:

Do you know about the actual "cruise control" button. I'm looking for that button itself. I have a Honda fit sport09.. saw someone had a part number for accord honda. Not sure if that one would fit mine.

Hi, very good video, I have an Accord 06 LX, but it does not have the controls on the steering wheel,
Do you think I can adapt them?
I was going to buy the audio controls but both the audio and the cruise are coming, however the harness is bigger than the entry I have on the steering wheel, my input is similar to yours with 5 pins.
what do you think?

Ernesto Alonso says:

what do you think?
